  1. Can't measure oil - have updated oil pump (WAA03)

Hey all, so just an update: £1750 later, new oil pump fitted and...... I can measure oil again! ? BUT! I have since taken apart my old pump and although it is the old version with the plastic housing... it's not broken in any way that I can see. I've attached pics below: So yea... really...
  2. Updated oil pump?

I read others in this forum who had theirs fixed under warranty as well. If the oil level check is failing at 16% the pump needs replacing and that's not on you, that's on Toyota/BMW. Should be covered under warranty. Good luck.
  3. Updated oil pump?

That's good to know. I will find out by the end of this week if work on my oil pump will be approved by the second dealer I took it to. They mentioned that Toyota contacts BMW for the warranty and BMW will pay them for it. Crossing fingers that I can have this situation resolved before the end...
  4. Updated oil pump?

...warranty. Took 2 weeks and 2 days. I showed the dealer the oil level check and how it stops at 16% and told them I read this indicates an oil pump issue. They actually listened and called Toyota to verify. The tech they talked to had them do an oil pressure test, which I believe is in the...
  5. What did you do to your Supra today?

42 ft-lbs and you better be exact. Get it wrong and your oil pump will fail. ? Seriously though. Just get it tight is fine.
  6. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

...date for my 2021 which is rather early, lucky in that there's no oil consumption, and I have an unlocked ECU, but I know it has plastic oil pump oil pump internals. I personally voted that I'm going to replace as a precaution however not right away. Simply to have one less thing to worry about.
  7. Updated oil pump?

When I had mine done the Toyota dealer didn't know how to swap it. Luckily they also have a BMW dealership so they sent my car there since they know the B58. That is probably your best bet. IDK if this helps, but I asked AI.... Yes, there are several car dealerships in the Bay Area that have...
  8. Updated oil pump?

Thanks for this incredibly informative thread. This may be a reach, but has anyone in the Bay Area gotten their oil pump replaced via warranty at one of the local dealers and had a decent experience? Currently going through this right now...
  9. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

To date I haven’t seen a single case of a Supra brake booster failing due to start button spamming. On the other hand yes to several bricked ECUs trying to do the brake recall. -RJM
  10. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

...went thru this on my 2020. First indication is the engine oil level check. If it goes to 16% and then stops, that's an indicator that the oil pump is having issues. I did not receive any CEL warnings, but did get a low oil warning once which started me researching and trying the engine oil...
  11. Looking to Buy a Used Supra – Which Year Should I Go For?

...need unlocking for ecu tuning but 2020 are 2 port cars, 2021 may have oil consumption issues, and some of these cars still had plastic oil pump parts. If you need specific color then you're looking at more specific years, refer to each year's brochure. And most importantly, budget. I'd...
  12. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

Thanks for this. Yeah if it throws a code to me, this is something to worry about.
  13. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

yup high pressure better than no pressure ?
  14. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

As far as I know the oil pump has a failsafe mode in which it gives you very high oil pressure. In my case, when it failed I was seeing abnormally high oil pressure, for example up to 115PSI on WOT or partial throttle. The car would also throw a code for this as a result.
  15. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

Nah they basically just told me we can't do warranty work for something that hasn't failed yet, I gave them receipts of others that have had the problem with unable to read at 18% and other cases, but still the same answer. I just want to get this over with if it ever happens. Even if its only...
  16. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

...are coming up on the end of our warranties? I'm only trying to get a general consensus since it's a bipolar issue - "replace the plastic oil pump asap before it fails!" and "it's fine, don't worry about it" I don't remember the fail to measure posts back then, but I do remember the 21's...
  17. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

So, you just say hey, I think there’s like this really really really small chance my oil pump may fail how about you all replace it just in case? Did they think it was a joke?
  18. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

i have warranty waiting and on the ready if my oil pump does fail.. Tried asking if we can do a precautionary warranty work but they wouldn't budge and states only when it fails it will be warrantied.
  19. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

Mine fails to mesure oil from time to time, but i have regular oil pressure on idle 40 psi and WOT around 80 psi. Doesn't throw any codes, so I'm keeping it for now until I see it act up then ill probably switch to a metal pump.
  20. 2020/2021 Plastic Oil Pump

There appears to be a growing concern for those of us with 2020/2021 owners who have the OEM plastic oil pump. While some have had this replaced by Toyota under warranty ONLY after it has failed, some are replacing them with the all-metal revised unit as a precautionary measure to avoid...
