Followed the instructions and used the GEN2 maps, you saw my map files in the screenshot is there somewhere else I need to download these...
That was the BEF doing that. Check this log out. This is the boost spike at 50% throttle with BEF and JB4 Map 0
Then as you go along the next run is the MHD E40 OTS with JB4 Map 1 (it did add a little boost) look at how fast it jumped to 9psi just starting to apply throttle vs the MHD even 100%...
It wasn't good . 50% throttle boost jumped to 9psi and the car kinda freaked out I grabbed a log of it any more throttle it pegged the boost gauge. Immediately removed it

Yea but I canāt it just goes absolutely haywire. I donāt know what any of those BEFās do except maybe race Which is what they told me to use first. Color me confusedā¦
Since itās running 18psi in the MHD tune and you think I could run 22 (map 5 setting) well 18 (MHDās boost level) + 4 JB4 Map 2...

It wasnāt running right it was surging and overboosting and not smooth at all Just bucking a lot like the car couldnāt figure out how much boost and when it would add it then immediately remove it And buck.

Well I couldnāt make the MHD BEF and JB4 work together. Car over boosted at 3000rpm, jumpy and basically undriveable. Couldnāt even drive enough to get a log to try and figure out just didnāt run right and surged all over the place. Ultimately just turned it off loaded the MHD Stage 2 E40 map...
Turns out the starter was bad. Put in a new one and so far no issues at all! Suprised it died with only 26,000 miles on the car but is what it is right. New battery + new starter $700 definitely not a cheap car to replace parts on out of warranty but also glad it wasnāt anything more major.
They scare the crap outta me LoL. I have ramps I put under the tires so if a jack stand or jack failed it would still be on ramps. If Iām taking tires off jack stands with the jack providing support. Iām old school and the stands are the smallest footprint to workaround.

When you donāt have a lift and your on your back itās not anywhere close to a 20 min job. Just getting the car setup on jack stands to get under it is 20 min.
There is about 15 or more bolts and screws and then you get to be a contortionist to get the plastic clips out of the oil pan to move...
So the starter⦠thatās a fun job. In case anyone else gets stuck doing one hereās how you do it.
1. Car in the air, your gonna need some room
2. Disconnect the battery
3. Remove the big silver aluminum skid plate thereās a bunch of large bolts and a bunch of smaller 10mm one for all the plastic...
Iāll take a peak but since the starter motor is an electrical motor that could be the starter as well. Bad brushes, contacts bad would do some of those to.
Itās close to the exhaust that could be a problem to so Iāll look for any burns too
Quick troubleshooting help. Why BMW has to make stuff so difficult is beyond me but here we are. Ok new battery is installed so that part is fine. I havenāt reset the battery setting, canāt until Monday when my dongle arrives, but I canāt imagine (or I can) that would cause the starter to not...
Any help you can provide using JB4 with MHD BEF? I have the wifi adapter coming then iāll get the MHD license and have the ECU unlocked within the next week or so, everything seems to have to come from Cali and iām in FL so shipping takes forever.

Ordered the MHD dongle, getting a local shop to unlock the DME while iām at it and get the MHD tunes and BEF stuff. Iāll be doing a little bit of dyno testing once it all comes in to kinda get 3 different scenarios
1. JB4 only with E30 map 5 dyno
2. JB4 with BEF Dyno
3. MHD E30 flash
