  1. Chris Harris on GR Yaris and Supra.

That a much evolved Lexus brand exists and the GR super sport en route, I really dont think that Toyota considers the Supra it's de-facto Halo car.
  2. Chris Harris on GR Yaris and Supra.

It's an evolving world. The Supra has not had a coherent identity since the beginning of it's existence, bar for the fact that it's a 2 door, 6 cylinder sports GT suited it's mission at the time. Also, according to almost every other reviewer, it does well enough to differentiate itself from...
  3. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

@Galerion What's it like compared to your GRMN?
  4. Chris Harris on GR Yaris and Supra.

The RC-F is a heavily compromised car. IS Front, IS-C middle, GS rear..... not a fair comparison by any measure.
  5. Chris Harris on GR Yaris and Supra.

I'm a fairly big fan of Chris, but I think his take on the Mk5 Supra is hot garbage. Why? I keep hearing about the fact that "it's a BMW" and not just an honest, well thought out opinion and evaluation of the car on it's own merit. Facts; - The Mk5 and current Z4 would **NOT** exist without...
  6. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

GRMN cars are very limited and very expensive. I think most people waiting on/looking forward to a version of the corolla that's analogous with the yaris would be disappointed in only a GRMN version, but yes, a GRMN car would undoubtedly have front and rear (at least) Torsen LSDs. No GRMN car...
  7. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

Dual LSDs could be optional the same way they are in the Yaris I would guess. As for swaps, not sure how likely, as if i recall correctly, the 1.6 is hand assembled, not sure what the production capacity is like and if it is gonna make its way to multiple platforms (Corolla, CH-R) who knows that...
  8. Toyota Presents World Debut of the New 2022 GR 86

Wanna see the front to be sure, but that side profile is waaaayyyy better than expected based on looking at the renders.
  9. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

Open deck is not the end of the world, as can be witnessed in quite a few modern engines.
  10. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

I might be jumping to conclusions but..... Holy shit did they put a billet crankshaft and pistons in that motor?!?! @A70TTR ? Was snooping trying to find out if the internals are forged.
  11. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

Is it bad that I already wanna see how far this engine can be pushed?
  12. The Lexus LC500 & LC500h, Plus LC-F Talk

Yeah Well yeah. It was ready to race at the ring earlier this year, couldn't have had that much more work to put into it. Fingers crossed.
  13. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

I suppose you can take solace in the fact that this will only be for Rally1 (WRC ) class cars, and Rally2 (R5) cars should still follow the ld school format?
  14. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

2022 cars are going to be space frame cars. This is a world away from actual homologation type cars and their racing counterparts. That being said, yes, of course it will be the closest thing to a modern rally car you can buy for the street (as that concept slowly fades into history)
  15. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

That's what I thought at first, however, if you take a look at the regs for 2022, you'll realize what I'm saying is correct. It will likely look very much like a GR Yaris...... but it will also be far removed from one.
  16. Toyota "Preparing" Hotter Supra GRMN, Says Chief Engineer

GRMN cars have always been very limited. I think the biggest run so far has been the Yaris GRMN with 400 units IIRC. It's also been the only one sold outside Japan. Everything else has been 50-350 (first GRMN Mark X was 100, second Gen was 350)... What pops is that it also had a 6 speed manual...
