Imagined it would use the same engine. Same power output? Any weight reduction? So the TV AWD then? Does that mean no manual option? I saw an article that I haven't been able to find again that said the GR yaris awd system was adapted from/similar to the Rav.... fact or conjecture or down right...
I wouldn't put a manual transmission outside the real of possibility for a GRMN car. The hardware exists to do it. By precedent, they made two GRMN versions of the MarkX with a 6 speed manual transmission... a whopping 450 cars in total (100 first run, 350 second). Outside of that..... ehhh...
While I don't expect this to be the case, I hope it goes that way. My dream for a GRMN Supra is for Toyota to "redeem" themselves (at least as far as the critics go anyway :rolleyes: ) and put in the work themselves and "out M" BMW. Meaning, to me, a modified B58 that outperforms the S58...
I completely get that, and always assumed as much. That being said, I'd expect a *GRMN* car to be extremely special (Body in white shipped to Motomachi and finessed at the production line there), and spec'd and priced accordingly. A street GT4 version would be a nice in between though (and not...
Pfft. They ought to do a damn sight better than that. The Standard MkV should be bumped eventually to the 382 (wink wink) hp spec. A GRMN car ought to be outstandingly better, what with the possibility of a 400hp Z car becoming apparent.

Not to derail the discussion again, but I'm assuming here that Toyota decided to develop this 3 cylinder (but not the I6 for the Supra) for a few reasons;
- Not only will this car be used to homologate the 2021 WRC car, it...

Most notably
AWD setup appears to be somewhere betwixt a Celica GT 4, Haldex (Audi/VW) and Ford Fucus RS style system.
And if the GR Super Sport was earmarked to be named Supra, the out cry would still be there, just over something else. "Why a v6" "Why a hybrid" "Why so expensive" "what about accessibility" "we can't have that" etc. .... things change, products evolve. The Corvette is now mid engined, There is...
my $0.02...
@justbake You (and many other mk4 owners/fans) are getting up in arms because you believe the Supra is still Toyota's flagship/Halo sports car. It's not, and that really is the simple crux of it.
The Supra was not on the horizon when the RC was engineered, and @KahnBB6 is...
The corolla hatch is a scant 200lbs heavier than this car. I think this drivetrain might not dramatically increase that (heavier transmission and rear diff and axles, but smaller, lighter engine), don't see the need to do much more than transfer it wholesale. I would say they don't have to go...
