OR its neither a B58 (because of the supposedly high RPM and lower boost levels at the same power level than a regular B58) nor an S58 (because I honestly don't think BMW would EVER share that engine with anyone else). Which would leave just 1 option a B58 that's been modified by Toyota
Fair point though I think 450hp is optimistic. It's possible they did that. Especially considering Tada San has spoken of high revving 6cyl engine many times and the test cars weren't
Agreed I think Toyota will choose 1 engine and stick with it and make it work for them. IF that peak rpm is true AND the B58 isn't capable of that high RPM in its current state then I do believe the supra engine is not a (regular) B58
No what I meant was that all the 6cyl engines will essentially be the same in my opinion. Even if some come with more power. The fact that we see 7700rpm probably just shows what the engine is capable of. I read somwhere that Toyota stated that they could push the car close to 500hp if they...
I am convinced that Toyota will not put different engines in their different variations of the Supra. They don't usually work that way. And it's too small a market for them to go through all the testing phases for each type of engine. If anything, it'll be the same engine with different tunes...
This really makes me hopeful that there's some significant changes to that engine. To make similar power and torque as the current B58 with lower boost. This engine must have tons of headroom!
Hi @A70TTR I have noticed something that I'd like your view on. When the B58 came out, amongst the differences to the N55, an additional 20% of boost was mentioned by BMW. Now, the stock boost on the N55 is 8psi odd. That would mean the B58 runs around 9.5 to 10psi. However, I've read that Supra...
