Miata people can be a bit... overzealous about their cars. I’ve had 2 NA8s and 1 NB2 and they were fine and all, but it’s a whole different league (obviously).
You’re wasting your money on EcuTek if you don’t get a tune. That’s the biggest benefit of it, frankly. EcuTek also doesn’t come with a base map so you have to buy one from somebody anyways.
Fairly serious accidents total out most new cars, the fancy tech in modern cars increases the price to replace them and the expertise to do things such as recalibrate frontal collision.
I’m no engineer, but I think the transmission does vary on parasitic losses depending on how much power you put through it. I agree that pumps and whatnot likely have no change, and most modern cars disconnect the ancillaries under load anyways.
Well no, because I guess I should have clarified, I can see ahead fine, but things just beyond the hood are hard to see. So I just go up an inch or two on the height.
I’m surprised you think the seat should go lower. I’m 5’ 10” and I can’t see over the dash easily with the seat at the lowest which I what I usually like.
EcuTek is only as good as your tuner.
Just be careful who you pick. If you do get a good one, it is likely the one to provide the best driving experience and the fewest reliability hiccups (depending on goals). Honestly doesn’t matter where you buy anything, all will provide the same product...
Is that the modular to coyote? I’d have to agree that was probably the worst engine swap someone could have. Atleast in this case it’s still the exact same engine with interchangeable parts.
I’m going catless and going to use an extender to help reduce how often I get a CEL. Frankly, I’d say it’s worth it with or without a tune for the sound and the savings from going without a cat.
