I open my hood after my sessions when I go autocrossing. Even then I would do a few cool down passes in the paddock before parking. You shouldn't have to pop the hood when coming home unless you are racing down the street right up to your house.

When I experienced this, it was near the end of my commute to work. Which is 45 min of driving. So, I don't think it's temperature dependent. Or at the very least, it appears it can happen when the engine is hot or cold.

I only drove the car in Sport mode, but the increase in volume was subtle yet noticeable from the cabin. If I had to give a percentage than, yes about 20% louder. I don't like loud exhausts for the sake of being loud, but I do like to be able to hear the engine/exhaust when I get on it.
