  1. What are you ok / not ok with new Supra sharing with BMW

Yeah I can't see why they would choose a BMW powerplant, unless they a) wanted the car to cost a lot more or b) didn't want the car to be properly quick. The complete BMW formula works well for daily driver luxury BMW M cars but not for a spartan Toyota halo sportscar named "Supra." Sure, if...
  2. Hybrid Supra Rumors & Chatter / B58 hybrid

+1, the price makes it very obvious. You can spend $40k on a plug-in Prius. $60k for some new hybrid sportscar sounds unrealistic at best.
  3. 2020 Supra Transmission Chat - Manual, Dual Clutch, or Auto?

Supposedly it's about as good as it gets for an autobox. I was cross shopping the ISF and M3, but almost every review mentioned how it would deny downshifts (sometimes you could audibly hear the car beeping at reviewers in their videos) as well as some actual owner complaints. Having come...
  4. Should Toyota Supra keep FT-1 2+2 configuration? Or lose backseats?

In college I wanted 2 seats so all my idiot friends couldn't ask me to drive them around. Now with small children being a possibility 2 extra seats doesn't sound bad. Unnecessary size/weight seems like a waste (I hardly ever have more than one person in my car, let alone 4). But as long as...
  5. FT-1 MKV Supra Benchmarks?

Meh.... they all do beat it on the numbers, price, performance, comfort, etc. But the 911 still has a great appeal. But yeah I expect from MkV Supra a lot more performance and a lot less price compared to 911.
  6. 2020 Supra Transmission Chat - Manual, Dual Clutch, or Auto?

Yeah shift time, but more importantly the immediacy of response to driver input, crispness of the shift, lack of slush. ;) Also, while I'm not an engineer, supposedly they offer more compact packaging, better fuel efficiency, etc., which is why more companies like Ford, Volkswagen offer them in...
  7. Wish List for the new Supra / Must Have Futures and Options!

Lightweight can go along with big power. I don't expect hellcat numbers, but I fully expect 500 horsepower.
  8. Possible Debut at Tokyo?

We'll know if anything is at Detroit in a few days. I think Tokyo is more likely due to timing, etc., but I would love to be surprised in Detroit.
  9. What are you ok / not ok with new Supra sharing with BMW

If they pull a getrag unit off the shelf there should be no issues. :)
  10. What will the FT-1 be called? Supra trademark revived by Toyota!

Everyone likes the Supra name. Only concern I have heard in interviews of Akio Toyoda, Tatsuya Tada, etc. is that the car has to live up to the name.
  11. Should Toyota Supra keep FT-1 2+2 configuration? Or lose backseats?

2 seats is cool, but this car will be so much more than a Corvette competitor, so I voted for 2+2.
  12. Hybrid Supra Rumors & Chatter / B58 hybrid

Excellent quotes. Everyone who keeps insisting that the MkV will be hybrid, 4 cylinder, plug-in, fuel cell, or other BS, has clearly not been listening to anything that the top brass at Toyota and Calty have been saying.
  13. New Supra and Z4 will share platforms

Y'all didn't really miss much, IMO. The driver who supposedly "divulged" the information only really repeated the rumors that were around at the time, and frankly sounded like he was trying to be some sort of cool-guy. I could be totally wrong, but that's how it came across. He was not some...
  14. Nissan concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo revealed, hints at future R36 GT-R

That concept car in current form is terribly ugly, with an updated Ford GT90 feel, but with a lowered beltline I think they could retain a lot of the elements and have a great looking car.
  15. Toyota FT-1 concept & A90 Supra design dissected

That pic in the OP, or really any other photoshop attempt at a "nose job" really neuters the styling of the car, IMO. What's so appealing about this car is that it's not just some generic sportscar that happens to be made by Toyota, but that it is unique and aggressive.
  16. 2020 Supra Transmission Chat - Manual, Dual Clutch, or Auto?

The legitimate sportscar manufacturers are all employing, improving, innovating their dual clutch units. BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Nissan all use dual clutch units. Several companies have made the change fairly recently, such as Porsche going from Automatic...
  17. MKV Toyota Supra Photoshops & Renders based on FT-1 & Prototypes

Yeah I don't think that looks terrible... but FT1 is gorgeous and that looks icky by comparison.
  18. The Pricing Thread + Potential US Tariffs Impact

Which might seem silly to some but IMO is really important. I remember in the 90s when I was a kid, everytime I'd spot a Supra I'd first wonder if it was a Turbo or not. A non-turbo Supra was a real letdown to me. I wouldn't even let myself get excited until I saw the word "Turbo" on the...
