Yeah... I guess it wouldn't bother me too much if they were cutting and gluing along an originally glued seam. That makes sense. But it sounds like they are actually slicing through structural carbon, and then simply gluing stuff in its place... which in my non-engineer mind would compromise...
This AMG GT is really gorgeous. I hope it looks as great in the flesh.
This car ticks every box for me. In top spec though it's going to be six figures... one day :)
Buyer of a BMW convertible is pretty different demos than a buyer of a Toyota sports coupe.
Perhaps if they produce a Z5 M coupe there will be some overlap, but I can't foresee BMW offering as much horsepower in their M coupe as Toyota will in the Supra as it would undercut their other M...
Exactly. A lot of bloggers, commenters, etc. grossly assume that this car is going to be another FRS/BRZ with different badges and a couple different body panels.
"Packaging and design" reads more broadly than it should. Article does not state anything more about said "some sources" whose...
+1
If Toyota wants their car to be noticed, to make magazine covers, to be really groundbreaking, they will keep the dramatic styling.
The Enzo is a great example, tons of Ferrari guys hated it but it's aged incredibly well and still stands out while its contemporaries have not.
eans and...
No thanks. Too expensive, adds no value for me.
IMO biggest turnoff on the P1 is the hybrid setup. I would have loved a car more like the F1 with lighter weight.
Fb, here is an interesting article germane to your sentiments:

The Z has recently been a car closer in price to the pony cars.
"Cheap domestic muscle" starts at about $30,000. GT500, ZL1, etc. are hardly volume cars.
While I agree with you that they're not going to take a bite out of Ferrari sales, IMO Toyota clearly has their sights set on the GT-R and Porsche 911 markets.
I don't think Car would make this up and I have pretty good confidence in it.
Yeah you're right, it is some blend: "CLAR also stands for a more advanced material mix which introduces some carbon fibre elements, additional high-strength steel sections, selected magnesium and titanium accents...
Thanks for sharing!!
For what it's worth, the 6 series starts in the high 70s, realistically every 6 series is an $80-90k car on up to over $100k. So it is possible this car could be getting stuff that won't be happening in BMW's sportscars (such as upcoming Z4 / Z5 which will supposedly share...
3x powertrain development costs. While they could pull existing engines from their lineup, but they'd still have packaging costs. And it's not just dropping in an engine, they've got to get each particular setup to work with all of the electronics of the car. With modern safety standards...
You and me both.
If I was still in high school, maybe... but then I wouldn't have the money. I'm not even 30 but I already feel like it would not be fitting.
I admire the cars for what they are, but there are just too many mustangs driving around, half of them beat to hell pieces of shit...
Lexus is another animal...
Rumors are that Lexus will be introducing more F-models across their line similar to Mercedes AMG. GS-F, LS-F, etc. in addition to the new RC-F and existing IS-F.
LF-LC is another completely new car, with specific details yet to be released.
For what it's worth, all of the sub-supercar Ferraris still don't have carbon tubs. Even the new Huracan doesn't have a carbon tub. But I hope you're right.
