I'm not sure that the dealership would reimbursement me at this point. I don't have any good relationships with the locale Toyota dealships after this whole ordeal. I'll make an appt with a local leather shop and see if they can fix it and protect it going forward.
Latest update on the seats. Wiped them with water and a microfiber cloth and this is how bad they look. Doesn't matter how I get in and out of the car, the protectant on the leather failed.
Southeast Toyota finance refuses to replace them. AutoNation Toyota Pinellas Park in Florida has refused...
Another dumb post. I have a $200 Amazon leather racing Sim seat that has zero wear and much more use than a 60k+ premium car. A good leather wallet will last years without any wear, so what is your point?
If you look at all the other threads everyone says you should never condition the leather. So which is it?
Also you ruin any other vehicles with jeans? I haven't and I have 3 other vehicles currently with many more miles and usage. I've seen way too many people with early failing leather In...
It's bad / faulty leather from the factory. Mine is failing at less than 2k miles and others have spoken out some as low as 1600 miles. A class action lawsuit should be started.
Just a small update and what a nightmare it's been:
Some of y'all might think this is petty or not worth it because it's just some seats but anyone with warranty issues should never have to deal with this poor of service.
So the service advisor at AutoNation agreed the wear wasn't normal for...
That looks rough.. No amount of "properly getting in" to the car is going to prevent that area from damage and it's peeling like it's a Walmart quality faux leather couch.
Really sad knowing that a base model Nissan rogue has better leather than a premium model supra..
Armchair psychoanalyzing a stranger on a car forum because they expect a product to perform as intended is a weird move. You sure you're okay buddy?
My original ask is... and I quote... "I wanted to see if others had this issue so early on." I've received multiple responses stating that others...
When you talk about dryness are you talking about flaking that you can pull off or just some cracks? yours is a 2021 so I'm wondering how it compares to how mine are wearing down.
It's 26yr old leather that has been used thousands of times.. it's not apples to oranges.
And I'm getting a lot conflicting advice in this thread. one person says I need to condition more often, you (and others) are saying maybe condition less or not at all. Meanwhile, multiple black seat...
Went to the dealership today. They took some photos and will be sending it to whomever at toyota decides these kind of things. He agreed it's not normal wear for the milage and age but he also isn't the decision maker. We'll see what happens.
Here's a (dirty) photo of my 26yr old sports car leather that has 80k on it. I see no discoloration or flaking.. Compare that to a 6month old car with 1/40th the amount of use. For those of you saying it's about how you get in and out of it.. I personally think you're insane to justify that.
I'm sorry, I can't see this argument as a reason for failure at 2k miles and maybe 300 times getting in and out of a almost $70k car. It's great advice to help prevent long term wear but not brand new leather. Doing triceps dips is a bit unreasonable expectation for a street car with power...
