Start at the mid point. If it is too stiff/soft reduce/increase compression. If it is too bouncy, increase rebound.
Ideally, you would want compression damping high enough so that it does not bottom out and rebound high enough so that it does not bounce twice.
I would suggest you have a test drive before you decide.
The supra does not have a lockout in the transmission. Its not just the rev hang, there is a big drop in gearing (drive ratios) from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, which will not let you row through gears as quickly as you would want to and do it...
Generally, it happens if you hit something like a big hole or a curb or something. Macpherson strut suspensions are more prone to this as they usually don't have adjustable caster. You can dial it in by using adjustable camber/caster top hat plates.

You would need to move your left foot over to the brake pedal quickly. Or you could use your right foot to keep pressure on the brake while modulating the throttle.
If you don't break traction, you are quite likely to break your clutch.
