The only noted safety issue is the brake recall from October 2019.
Everything else is just what people have noticed, ie: full-screen carplay.
In other BMW models, people have noticed dramatic differences.
If you are not tuned and running stock iDrive/software, then its worth updating...

Can try disconnecting battery for 30mins.
Direct approach:
Try dropping down the center dome light.
See if it still dials while disconnected.
Then try reconnecting and testing if it dials.
Otherwise, the car might think it has crashed and/or deployed airbag(s).

I'm using the Titan Snow Performance kit.
I also wired in a simple rocker switch for the WMI, to easily disable:

It powers up but doesnt run/spray until the minimum set pressure.
I usually leave it off...
From Papadakis' teardown video, the provision is not there.
The pans are different, no idea if a pan swap would work either.
The front section is also different, I assume to clear the subframe.
