I'm hoping at the very least that means they made their own shifter instead of using BMW's. BMW transmissions aren't bad with some shifter upgrades and the clutch delay valve removed.
I don't know why people on this forum are so determined to believe the manual supra isn't happening. It's been all but officially announced for a while now.
Hopefully we get the official announcement later this month.
I've already tried. There isn't really anything dealers can do other than take a deposit and write your name down somewhere.
They can't actually place any orders yet.
I was able to see the order simulator screen that dealerships have access to the other day through a dealer contact. For the manual there were 3 options listed:
GR Supra 3.0 6MT
GR Supra 3.0 Premium 6MT
GR Supra 3.0 SE 6MT
Based on that it sounds like we are actually getting the manual on the...
It depends how they implement it but on the cars I've driven that have auto rev matching, it's completely unobtrusive. You can still manually rev match and the computer will do what it needs to if you don't hit the correct rpm perfectly.
Pretty sure Toyota said they were using the Cayman as a benchmark. I wouldn't compare it to a GTR at all. That's over double the MSRP and 500 lbs heavier and AWD.
Hard to tell but BMW already has both a manual and automatic that can handle the extra power on the s58 motor.
It will be interesting to see what these will do with a tune.
I wish they would get rid of the headlight tails like this. Between that and the extra vent on the nose I think this front bumper looks way better than the current production model.
You can improve BMW shifting a lot by removing the clutch delay valve and swapping out a few bushings. Otherwise there will be some good aftermarket solutions as always. Autosolutions kits are one of higher quality aftermarket shifters in the BMW world and I'm guessing they'll probably make...
Haha all these rumors are getting me excited. I'll be at the dealership the same day we get an official announcement of the manual 3.0 if it happens this year.
I still think it's an entirely different wheel. Look at the spoke design (especially the center) on video vs the 2.0 wheel.
That might lend credence to 2023 being the model refresh year. Or it could just be a test wheel we won't ever see.
I'm in the same boat and didn't really have a lot of interest in this car until the manual rumors seemed solid. I'm only interested in the 3.0.
If the supra doesn't end up with a manual in the 3.0 this year, I'll most likely end up with one of the M2 variants.
This makes me think you haven't ever actually driven a manual before. Paddle shifters are not the same level of engagement at all. It's not really even something that can be legitimately argued.
Having said that, modern automatics aren't that bad. Paddle shifters definitely help make up for...
Check out this article sometime. Summer tires are basically useless below 45 and they can even be damaged if you drive on them below freezing.
