The are two versions of the story: one goes that it was being developed and maybe still is (but not for the standard model), and the other is that one of the people that relayed that info mistranslated a quote for as strong as iron being iron literally.
I believe the latter to be the case sadly.
I had several friends at that event and really wanted to go myself (getting burned out), but yeah they were just having fun vs going all out.
The LFA guys were apparently pushing the limits though. Must have been killer to experience...
it definitely is semantics, agreed, but in the literal sense they aren't GR as all the badging, colors, and even options are different on the GR vs TRD 86. that said, all the testing and development was done by GR, so the whole thing is pretty ridiculous.
even more lame is the fact that TRD...
They have never launched Gazoo Racing in NA or made claim that it was planned... The GTE car was at SEMA, but that's purely because it didn't make any sense to change it when the class it would race in would fall under the Gazoo umbrella (let alone the fact that it was going right back to the EU...
Jack Hollis' commentary there confirmed for me that there will be no Gazoo Supra and it will instead be a TRD model if anything. If you watch the video above, it's very obvious they were pushing to extend TRD vs introducing something else (especially something they dislike). I think this has...
Yeah, the one project was pushed back slightly because we had some issues with the engine, but both are on track now.
I think I commented on this and it got moved? Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but either way I believe the TRD spec (if the US gets anything beyond an appearance package)...
The gen 2 will likely still happen, but it will come later after gen 1 has already been discontinued for a bit. That's what my colleague said in our meeting the other day.
the 86 is likely going to be discontinued in the next two years from all that I've heard on this side; a gen 2 car is vaporware at this point.
as for the Supra, I think Toyota will bring the higher end car to the US market, but it will be badged TRD and possibly toned down a bit.
read back a few pages; it was started as a way to reply to a separate OT clause within the original few posts, but then we all ended up just flying off OT lol
hmmm... Spilner, as in Brian Spilner from the Fast franchise.
so, Bryster as a nickname for Brian? I can see that... I was wondering why those comments in my thread seemed so familiar lol
EDIT: sure enough, Spilner was banned right before Bryster showed up. Good work, @2JZ-No-Sh*t
yeah, basically the 1J head is great for 2.5L and an easy way to increase top end flow (beyond a ported 1J head even) is to install a 2J head (Driftmotion just did this; coined 1.2J). Putting a 1J head on a 2J bottom end is simply to save costs when you already have all the mods/built head and...
