  1. 2021 Toyota Supra Reviews Compilation

We do have takes on two stock Supra MKIV TT 6-speeds from Regular Car Reviews : ) I do agree though that I wish Farah would comment more on specifics about the car and what he would still like to see improved (other than the wind buffeting which he mentioned). It seemed like he had...
  2. The MKIV vs MKV Thread

Needs some Bad Obsession Motorsport level attention to panel gap detail on the A90's rear wing but I like it as a work in progress-- that needs to be finished. And a single exit exhaust like the A80.
  3. 👣 Official: Toyota Announces Manual Transmission Supra!

I can’t stop to look it up right now but I thought I read a rumor about BMW or ZF/Getrag designing a new 7-speed DCT transmission for the next M3/M4 which might also spawn a 7-speed manual variant of the same gearbox design (Porsche did something similar with their latest DCT which had a 7-speed...
  4. 👣 Official: Toyota Announces Manual Transmission Supra!

The new Morgan Plus Four which was released about four months ago uses the same BMW B48 255hp engine as in the Supra 2.0L... and with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This review of it has few criticisms and seems to point to the availability of the 6-speed M/T being the main selling point of the four...
  5. 👣 Official: Toyota Announces Manual Transmission Supra!

All I know is that if they continue to not offer a manual I’ll not only have EAG’s 520D manual swap cost to add on but also a considerable amount of lab testing and emissions modification cost through (presumably) G&K Auto in California. And on top of that cost about $11k in CA lab testing fees...
  6. Hybrid Supra Rumors & Chatter / B58 hybrid

It doesn't actually require all that much horsepower to propel a car while just cruising and maintaining speed. FAR less than the horsepower the B58 engine puts out at its most efficient RPM. That's where a mild hybrid setup is probably the most useful strictly for fuel economy gains.
  7. Hybrid Supra Rumors & Chatter / B58 hybrid

I would not at all be surprised if a mild hybrid Supra shows up sometime in the A90 lifecycle but the one wrench that might be in this is Tetsuya Tada's own insistence that this generation of the Supra will not come in a hybrid trim. Things could change of course since they're so tied to BMW's...
  8. 👣 Official: Toyota Announces Manual Transmission Supra!

I really hope so. Very disappointing that worldwide outcry for a manual fell on deaf ears (so it has seemed) but once some direct competition comes out for this car that offers a manual they actually get some incentive to finally do it. Fingers crossed. Speculation: As to which manual they'll...
  9. 91 vs 93?

Any pump that offers VP Racing's VP100 fuel is unleaded 100 octane. It's rare to find but there are some independent gas stations out there that offer it. Be forewarned though... at least pre-covid19 the price was $9-$10/gallon which is pricey even if your goal is only to raise the total...
  10. News, Updates, and Discussions on next-gen A100 Supra

^^ Whoa! Now that will be something if it also comes to fruition!
  11. Toyota Presents World Debut of the New 2022 GR 86

https://www.torquenews.com/1084/if-next-generation-subaru-brz-and-toyota-gr86-look-they-will-excite This render looks too Supra MKV. Interesting speculation here is that the 2nd gen may retain the original RWD chassis design after all rather than a variant of Subaru's new global platform or...
  12. Toyota "Preparing" Hotter Supra GRMN, Says Chief Engineer

The 7 speed DCT should be a traditional behind-engine FR transmission, shouldn’t it? It would be the same with the 7 speed manual if so.
  13. Official A90 Supra life cycle thread: updates, new variants, 2026 final model year?

Okay, yes. That’s what I meant also: What variations do we want to appear in the next (2022+) A90 model year(s).
  14. Official A90 Supra life cycle thread: updates, new variants, 2026 final model year?

We're talking about what the next A90 generation Supra model should be, right? --Any edition at all with a manual transmission. Preferably the 3.0L but really... any A90 in left hand drive with a manual. Any. And of course the same for all RHD markets is a given. --Whatever Tada and co want...
  15. Official A90 Supra life cycle thread: updates, new variants, 2026 final model year?

Given how much Toyota has been investing in solid state battery technology and the incremental progress with super-capacitors and their longstanding work with hybrids the silver lining with an A100 or even A110 might actually be Toyota coming back to their own in-house drivetrain technology once...
  16. All-new 2023 Nissan Z makes world debut!

That is not good news at all. even though they are niche sportscars the Z and GTR are the only other good models the Nissan brand sells. I read elsewhere that they are still considering the U.S. a key market. That at least could bode well for those two models.
  17. All-new 2023 Nissan Z makes world debut!

Like it. Like the twin turbo V6 but not digging this part: “Using the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 engine of the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport, the output will be 298kW of power, or 400hp, hence the 400Z nameplate. Torque could be increased beyond 475Nm and it will likely not offer a manual...
  18. SupraMKV Interview with Tada-San on 2021 GR Supra

The B48 is a closed deck block design just like the B58. It just won’t be capable of the same very high tuning ceiling of the I-6. The criticisms I’ve seen so far is that the B48’s biggest drawback (stock) is that it generates its power within a much narrower RPM range compared to the B58C and...
  19. Toyota Presents World Debut of the New 2022 GR 86

We don't entirely know yet as to which chassis is used or how much the existing one is modified if they're not opting for a new chassis. Engine-wise I guess we're getting a 2.4L boxer NA. But hey, it's still a bit more power and torque with a a likely different engine dyno curve and we still...
  20. All-new 2023 Nissan Z makes world debut!

Oof. Either this has directly to do with Nissan’s now very touchy relationship and tie-up with Renault or it specifically has to do with whether or not the Z can meet ever tighter emissions regulations in Europe without going full hybrid or full EV.
