Having the standard available trim level at a lower point doesn't bother me at all as long as the higher level trim is available in the North American market. The only time I am not on board is when it's just not sold here. The fact that the standard trim in Europe was the Track trim usually...
The Crown, IS and RC also share the same platform, so it seems that they will likely continue the same platform forward (though the Crown and Mark X have yet to be updated to the newer generation used by the 2013+ GS, 2014+ IS and RC). Killing the GS, if it's as low-selling as it would need to...
I'm pretty sure every GRMN except the Century has a manual. It's an interesting point as many of the models were sold only in Japan, and a few were auto only in that market excluding the GRMN version. :)

The bellhousing is from an IS250 RA62, the case is from the RA62/63 and the extension housing is from the IS200d/220d RA63. The only thing that was customized was I believe one or two gear ratios and some better synchros for 2nd and 3rd.
My point was that the reason not to offer a manual...
FWIW, GRMN has been big on manuals up to this point. Going as far as to offer a manual in an auto-only car (Mark X) behind an auto-only engine (2GR-FSE). All that development for 100 cars.
Then people had the audacity to say Toyota didn't offer a manual behind the 2GR in the IS350 because it...
The Celica Supra was from 1979-1986, the Supra became its own model in 1986. The 15th anniversary model was, as was stated, a USA-only thing that Toyota USA decided would be a good idea. It didn't come that way from the factory, they just had some stickers made up and threw them on the car. It...
Additionally, due to the tuning culture of Toyota vs BMW, I actually suspect there will be more support from Japanese tuners which will help push modifications further and faster than has happened with the B58 and some other BMW models up to this point.
It will be interesting to see how things...
Similar to the GRMN Mark X which used a reworked version of the RA62/63 from the IS250/200d/220d.
The automatic and manual transmissions are both supplied by Aisin, and are from the same families as transmissions provided to Toyota for the Altezza (AZ6 manual, also used by Nissan and Mazda)...
Social media answers are always a bit too sketchy to put much credence in.
Still, a kit from Toyota that allows a 2JZ to communicate with the electronics in the car would be a dream come true.

It's certainly possible to design a spoiler like the FT-1 had for the Supra. Ofcourse it will require a different hatch, but we may see it one day. Or we may not.
It doesn't appear that it will be a release-time option.
Jeff
Emblems are moving in that direction. When looking back on the Supra, it will be period correct.
Lexus is in the process of moving everything to this style emblem as well.
It is what it is.

I believe the only differences as far as reflectors go are in the lights themselves, no? I believe the bumpers are the same for US spec.
Could be wrong.

Toyota's VVT-i system hasn't been without its issues (specifically the cam gears rattling and breaking in the GR series engines), but I agree, it's really not exciting.
That said, I think VANOS in general has had more issues than VVT-i, despite its similarities. I would assume (hope) that BMW...
1. Will you buy the 2020 Supra as soon as you can? Or will you wait for the 2021? (Or later)
Most likely I will wait until 2022 or 2023. Hoping for good things in the following couple of years and I'll be in a better place to be buying another car at that point
2. What color combination will...
