Hmm I'm trying to understand all this. I am told there is only 3500 coming this year to the u.s. Are the vins not a European vin in toyotas system? I am also told that toyota may be borrowing some tooling to work on these things.
The exhaust does look pretty free flowing. That's for sure.
Yank that cat, intake for sound, get a tune. 400whp is my goal.
Drive it on the weekends, enjoy the heck out of it and turn some heads.
Haha mine was the 1st gen flavor and awd. Thing made power on a small turbo 456hp and 510ft lbs to the wheels at 2600lbs. Ran 11.20's to 11.30's all day. Also broke the trans all day.
I bet adding boost, intake and exhaust mods will help prolong that curve higher in the rpm. Depending on what boost level that turbo is at and it's not maxed out on its compressor efficiency range.
I did alot of 4g63 tuning on smaller street turbos. It was the same fight. Build the power...
There is talk of the engine being completely different from supra to z4. The supra uses a one piece turbo manifold the z4 does not. But we aren't completely sure on the U.S. version either. It seems quicker than EU version so it's still not confirmed.
60 hp with a turbo that isn't maxed is easily attainable. Sometimes it only takes a couple psi to get there to depending on where the turbo is happy with efficiency.
I think the deal toyota has with bmw is really tight lipped. The supra is getting lots of publicity and the z4 is not. Toyota is riding this thing out carefully not to piss bmw off. Eggshells is the Motto for toyota right now
