I agree with this 100%.
Everyone wants a GTR competitor from Toyota, their favorite automaker, so they can have a false sense of pride that their company has the better flagship car. This is all while there are very few who can actually afford the car and even less who take advantage of the...
Yeah a TTv8 is great but Lexus doesn't have anything remotely interesting for less than $80k. There's no stair step between a RC and GS 350 to a RC and GS F. You either get a 10 year old Sienna motor or a full on performance car with a V8.
And don't even get me started on how they utterly...
Id rather have the motor in the LS500 than the one in the LC500,
Nevertheless, hopefully they put the V35a in more cars to bring more fun/interesting cars to the brand
That was a different mindset on the mk4 where the car was made popular for modding because of it's stout drive train years after the car was released.
Buying a new car with untested components and voiding the warranty right away sounds like a nightmare.
Are there any sources that confirm this besides the MT article that had several glaring holes in the narrative? If that article was in line with what *every other publisher* mentioned, id be more inclined to believe this.
Of course not all of these cars are for everyone, they are just examples of other cars Toyota is up against when pricing the car.
There are several business decisions to make at this point.
They have tough competition at the $50k mark in the premium segment. The Q60 3.0T starts at $45,000, Q60 red sport starts at $52,000, 440i at $51,000, the M240i at $45,000, M2 at $58,000, and countless others that I dont care to google right now.
And thats without mentioning the Mustang...
Those theories were mine. Just thinking outside the box on why there some sources (even the toyota employee in a goodwood interview) were saying the car would have 450hp and 7500 redline
I am still mind boggled that they didnt put their newly developed V35a in the car, not only is it up on power but its way better for weight distribution than a tall I6 at a 30 degree angle
Where did all the rumors of the supra being a hybrid come from?
The goodwood car was using a production 6 cyl motor, but is it the highest variant 6 cyl?
Old materials? like leather?
Shifting and redesigning the interior from what? We can already see the dash is a different shape than the z4.
Bespoke as in different than the Z4
Its optimistic to say the least. It all comes down to what BMW gains from the partnership and how much help they need to catch up to their M competitors.
Edit:
added hp figures
M3: 425hp
M3 Competition: 453hp
AMG C63: 469hp
AMG C63S: 505hp
Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio: 505hp
RC-F: 467hp...
I agree 100%. When saying that, I am of the opinion that the Supra will have a S58 if Toyota builds the hybrid turbo and tech in the S58 which will be used in M3/M4/X3 M/X4 M models.
Toyota gets a car, BMW gets tech and power to compete with AMGs, RSs, and Alfa Quadasomethings,
I hope the B58 will come in a mid level trim, it will definitely be great option for cheap modding without breaking the bank.
My guess is the tiers would stack B48(not in american markets) -> B58 -> S58(GR model)
