Alright so I get a lot of questions regarding ECU tuning so Id like to open this up to everyone so information can be shared.
What are your questions? What topics do you want to talk about?
Well first thing to mention is YES ALL ECU GO TO Femto (Russia) to be unlocked.
Lets start with what...
Hey Everyone!
As you may know, I offer JB4 tuning/custom map services and plan to continue offering that, but with all the new information out there around unlocking post-June 06.2020 ECUs, I will be offering the ECU unlocking as well.
This will allow you, the end-user, to have a fully...
Sadly I can only run the protune or jb4. And I have the protune. The side piece goes all way down to the bottom and has a small piece that warps around the grommet area in the front most part of the car. Next time I take it out, I'll do a hand test and feel around.
I just got my WiFi MHD adapter and I’ll be running it with my JB4
there is a dyno video between MHD and BM3 on YouTube.
tuners don’t prefer BM3 because their custom tunes can be easily shared
There’s nothing as simple as an access port for this platform, mostly due the complexity and security built into the ECU. There are OTS tunes though, using platforms like BM3, ECUTek, etc., but the flashing process is more involved. Eastcoastsupra and speedindustry both have OTS ECUTek tunes...
MHD or BM3 is what you are asking of if you don’t mind flashing the car.
The JB4 is good and can be back end flashes with MHD for optimal results and safeness
ECUtek is more pricey than previously mentioned and I would suggest going this route with a custom tune if you want to get on e50 and...
I flashed BM3 stage 2 on mine last night, the stock 275's are definitely way too narrow to handle that much power. I'll be going 275/285 or 285/295 (4S's).
JB4 is piggyback, meaning you didn't even need to know anything about your ECU. It works on all.
BM3, MHD, EcuTek, etc are ECU flash solutions which require unlocked ECU.
there are pros and cons to both.
if you want to be on the safe side of warranty JB4 or any other piggyback like Titan...
I don't have any experience with their tune. Most of our customers use Bootmod3 or the Jb4.
Some who want even more power and control get a bm3 custom map
How much is everything needed for the ecutek with the mod? I plan to run 93 octane stage 2 with downpipe and switch to ethanol. I also plan to keep it on normal mode for when I have to make 2 hour + road trips.
I did some digging and realized that if you don’t plan to upgrade the cars turbo, using the ECUTek is a waste of money. They can tune it to 450hp on 93 octane, downpipe, intake, and gas pump upgrades. 500 hp with e50.
so personally, I will just get a JB4 and the parts mentioned to get a decent...
I think I’ll say the hell with warranty. If they dig, they dig, if not they won’t. So I’ll go with ecutek Mikey botti tune.
try to find the right catless dp.
and anything else I would need to not fuck the car up
BM3 is a flash. JB4 is a piggyback. BM3, MHD, Ecutek, MGFlasher are all flash based tuning platforms. The JB4 is a piggyback therefore doesn't alter the actual ECU flash data which can void your warranty EASILY. However, the JB4 can too if its found, or the dealer looks deep enough into...
They can not crack the recent ECU yet.
One of the reasons I went JB4Bm3 and ecutek require bench crack. The crack is more detectable than a jb4 or other piggy back.
You can download mhd back end flashed w jb4
Getting ready to leave the jb4 and go either MHD or a BM3 i’m just unsure as to which one i’m better off using tho both seem really good what does everyone recommend? Bm3 seems a bit pricier as well so does it make up for that with anything over MHD
Newbie.....
So can you flash BM3 on a virgin ECU or does it need to be benched first?
Former N54/jb4-MHD owner and still M3 so I am aware of the basic tenants of piggy back vs ecu flash
