ProTune, JB4 are piggyback while BM3, EcuTek, MHD are ECU flash tunes.
W/ piggy chances are you won't void warranty. Other's you likely will.
All are safe & reliable, unless you go with a super unknown company and/or tuner. More power usually...
JB4 wont fix the check engine light.
As for bmw tuner. Some have the hardware to do it, some do not. Most places that are BM3 tuners probably wont have the tool. But some tuners can flash straight to the ECU. You could also mail the ECU out to have it unlocked.
I personally would skip JB4 all together and wait for MHD to find a way into the locked Ecu. You’ll get better results with a real flash. Ecutek is also working on a way to get around the lock.
If you happen to know someone that has Ecutek you can use their dongle to check your version. I...
Im about to switch over to ECUTEK tomorrow. I have a catted DP and panel filter and the custom tune sucks under load. My Tuner assured me and PROMISED me that the ECUTEK is now the wat to go. I track my car (Roadrace) so throttle application is important..meaning by modulations.
How is your...
i don't really like people saying this because its not completely accurate. Solely the "power" thing. If the tuner knows what they are doing. Power will be the same for the most part. IE- my car. Puts out the same power on Ecutek and MHD. that's all i'll say about that since MHD was not a...
Okay where to begin... It depends on what you're looking for this is comparing apples to oranges at this point. I've had both and jb4... only thing BM3 is better at right now is their app and price. Everything else including Power is in Ecutek's favor and only getting better, its all custom...
So it’s been about a month since I first loaded Ecutek onto my Supra and let me tell you its been one hell of a month.
My Mods: Titan Downpipe and AFE drop in filter
My initial impressions can be found here...
Love the tune, better than bm3 and before that I had JB4; yes, the torque is nuts at 440, hp 395. It comes with a 3 year warranty, so I didn’t worry about Toyota warranty. I contacted the Florida store back in early Dec, before they had a price for it in the states.
Awesome review man, hitting all the key points that I was interested in hearing. Im going this route also.
Right now one of my gripes with bm3 ots 93 is the tq just slams all in immediately. Makes the extra power feels useless. Can you expand On the tq delivery being OEM like? That stood...
A little preface before I get into my formal review of GoodSpeed’s Ecutek tune. Late September I was running JB4. Late November switched to BM3. and mid March I switched to Ecutek. I know of Ecutek from my previous involvement with the Nissan Community and the reputation that surrounds them is...
Yes if you go to a flash tune and get a custom map you should see substantial gains from Map 3 on JB4. Even the OTS flash maps have good gains over the JB4 but the JB4 is still worth the money as it is a super easy setup and piggyback system. It's a good place to start tapping into the potential...
Long story short, if someone wants the JB4, by all means get it. However to say the JB4 is the God or a flash only tune is at a disadvantage without a JB4. I highly inaccurate considering how advanced the DME that comes in the car is. I tune people with JB4s all the time. So don't take...
He did not mention any of these tunes, if he had the flash tune done locally. Everything you mentioned will require a tuner and extra money of course. With the Jb4 its free. I was not comparing jb4 to bm3, i was comparing JB4 to standard flash tune
Customer will not know the optimal boost by...
Since he asked benefits i didn't mention what you did, as they aren't really benefits since the Factory ECU can do them. other than the changing boost settings in a couple seconds.
- Factory ECU has Boost by gear. Actually better yet, torque by gear
- Datalogging is super slow on JB4 compared...

Ii agree, JB4 has its place and for anyone looking to go the piggyback route. The jb4 should be the only choice currently. As I said before, everyone any their momma is throwing up stuff to sell for these cars. With absolutely no experience of the platform. This can be dangerous for the consumer...
As a long-time MHD user on the n54 platform, I'd recommend the JB4 for the Zupra. MHD had years on the n54/n55 platforms to build up it's feature set to be competitive but the on-the-fly map switching, easy meth integration, and its existing marketshare in the m240i market make it a better...
DME (Digital Motor Electronics) on European vehicles basically means the ECU but in this specific case they are referring to a company in New Jersey called DME Tuning, the customer probably went with one of their tunes.
I went with MHD just based on looking at their history and what they are...
