I think Toyota generally keeps to themselves until the car is done; seems to be the case for all of their recent projects. That being said, I know nothing about their marketing plan or timeline, but I'm sure they expected a certain amount of heat, considering the Zx6 platform had pretty much the...
Here's a good article from Moto Miwa that references Toyota's quality approach. Tada-San elaborated on this in an interview with us as well.

The only reason that people think that Akio's presentation wasn't good was that they weren't there. The audio in the online videos does not pick up any of the audience's reactions. Everybody laughed at his silly jokes and enjoyed the presentation. People were clapping and cheering plenty...
Yeah, the Japanese press has responded well. The main comment being that it still feels like a Toyota. Only two journalists that I saw complained, one was that the tires were too twitchy when not warmed up (like, what?), and the other who complained about the drivetrain being German.
Ran 10.5:1 on my 2JZ, 27psi of boost on a 67. Made 707whp on SP's mustang dyno and it was a response monster. High comp is the way to go!
I for one will be the one building my B58 to 12:1 lol. The DI system in this car is stupid high pressure, so injection atomization is likely going to be...
@JT and @Supra93 are the real heroes here, they keep things going behind the scenes and we should all be very thankful for them! I'm just the crazy kid who talks too much! :p
Alright, so I finally made that video. I had to cut a tonnn of stuff out to keep it from being a feature-length film, but this hits all the bases of the development timeline and touches on the decisions made by the Toyota and BMW teams during the development process of the Supra and Z4.
Just finished up a video about the full development story of the Supra. Gonna post it soon! This took a longgggggg time to research and produce, but should hopefully present the facts of the BMW-Toyota partnership in a neutral, factual manner.
If you look closely, the blue diagram is just showing the internal ports that are cast into the head. In the video, you can see that the turbo bolts right to the head.
While I definitely agree that the mass plays a big role, and that the MKIV is hardly a wet noodle (it's fantastic, hence why I love them), the FRS/BRZ chassis is most certainly a big step forward in terms of design, especially when it comes to rigidity, and even more so when it comes to safety...
It's a little tough to photograph the red, especially in the lights they had, but I tried my best to get the color as accurate as possible. It's a very standard-fare bright red, not a darker red like the original Renaissance Red.
