So, a completely different design from Toyota?...or a BMW engine, with Toyota "essentials" (i.e., Denso water pump, Denso starter, etc...)? I hope it’s a Toyota design, handed over to BMW for production due to tooling utilization.
I hate Lexus now....just because they stole the MKIV engineers for their own selfish reasons. They ate the Steak and Lobster, and gave Toyota the potatoes and peas.
Haven't been following the threads on here much lately, been busy with Z build...
So, a few questions (sorry if they have been answered elsewhere, just lazy to search):
- The MKV Supra will not use the B58? Has this been definitively confirmed by a reputable source? If so, do we know what...
Im more concerned with the durability of the manual trans more than the idea of it being available. If we get a worthy successor to the legendary V160/161.....Toyota, take my money now!
Nottt...notgaaa....not gonna happen with the MKV Supra. DCT’s are much faster and less headaches with warranty claims....computer doesn’t let the driver f**k up the gears. Welcome to the next era of big brother control.
I want Toyota to maintain that long front hood, and small rear-end & cockpit. I love the 2000GT, 240/260/280Z, Jaguar F-Type, etc... look. It gives the car a very nostalgic yet racecar look to it. With a straight six, the car should look longer wheel based, like the last post above by VB22...
Lol...right, the different valve covers that say "Toyota 3000 Two Way Twin Turbo" or the wiring harness that would normally protrude from the top-left side of the firewall to the the bottom-left side. I hope for more, but like I said (and I hope im wrong) it will probably be minimal changes if...
I’m not complaining about it.....I think everyone knows it will be a BMW motor, whoever doesn’t is probably in denial at this point. I am, however, a bit skeptical on Toyota using “their own” anything on the BMW motor. Maybe different valve covers and wiring harness routing.
Same here....once we all see the “different” parts between the two motors, it may put our nerves at ease. For now, im still not convinced the BMW I6 TT will be able to hold up well compared to a 2JZ.
The FT-1 looks so good....the low roof line and long wheel-base stance/appearance makes it look more like a Supra than the short stubby look of the prototype mules.
Good thing you jumped on the rod bearings early, two of my close friends owned E90 M3’s and both had the rod bearings spin on them....wasn’t pretty. To me, things like the rod bearings or water pumps should be critical components that should last under extreme conditions. I hate to keep...
I agree, that is why Toyota should not be associated or co-developing a platform with a car maker that is concerned with leasing or short-term ownership. This has never been Toyota Motor Company's vision or goal. TMC has always been a firm believer that "the best new cars make the best used...
That looks better!
Those rear fenders are too prominent....really hope Toyota transitions them into the rear pillars like Porsche does with the 911’s. Now I’m asking for too much, I know.
That’s what im saying....the mules look “out of shape” compared to the concept. I can’t quite describe it, but the mules look too short wheelbased and bloated whereas the concept looks more stretched out and smooth flowing lines. Those side vents are bad....they gotta go or reincarnate the...
I feel the same way, I'm beginning to think that Toyota and BMW are having some serious problems in this product or as a joint-venture in general. The offerings are one thing (i.e., DCT only, etc...) but I am having a hard time seeing the FT-1 inspirations anymore on the camo'd mules. It...
That's a pretty steep jump from the $55k-$60k pricing we have been hearing for the upper-level trims. I honestly cannot see this car being priced so high...not saying it's not possible. I mean, Dodge did it with the Challenger that starts at $28k for the base model and goes up to $85k for the...
