Curious if the newer BMW straight sixes still suffer from cracked cylinder walls near the top chamfered area :hmm:. This was a known issue with E46’s especially the folks with boosted motors.
Just to clarify, I asked if the cast iron option (existing block design) was going to be available not as in a new block, but to be re-used in place of the all aluminum B58.
I can’t remember which big name performance shop it was, but one of them purchased almost every GTE cylinder head and Getrag V160 trans in the country at a huge discount from a Toyota dealership, and turned around and sold them for like 3 times their original cost. That Supra tax....
Oh now “we” are talking about base MSRP??? Take a walk man...and yes, I have anger issues....dealing with knuckle-heads like you. “Ohhhhh you meant...”:imnew:
Btw, have some fucken respect for those innocent people who lost their lives in school shootings and woman who have been...
That doesn't sound too promising....the head of engineering for the MKV Supra retiring just before the launch of the final product??? He probably is thinking, "hell yeah...getting my pension finalized before shit hits the fan with this car." Kidding...kidding :p.
A70TTR, help me understand something please...
What do you mean by the "Supra motor"? Aren't both motors BMW motors? Are you saying the Supra motor is a Toyota built motor, or a Toyota spec'd motor built by BMW? Regardless, the further away the two platforms are, the better.
Also, is it...
I am building a 1K HP 2JZ as we speak, and $15k adds up very quickly on engine mods. My current build is already at $14k and that doesn't include everything. Forget the performance side of things, the OEM replacement parts alone (panels, brackets, covers, etc...) would bring the cost of used...
Exactly! The main reason I have not purchased a $60k-$70k MKIV TT Supra is because it's not new...It's old, out of warranty, and will require another $15k-$20k to get it the way I want it. This is why I have been looking at GTR's....not because im a fanboy, but because out of the box, it has a...
Precisely! I totally agree with you! LEG1T you are absolutely right!....this car was suppose to be a "Halo car", a "hero car to save the brands sports car image." This is why I am having a difficult time understanding what the purpose of this car is, or who it is aimed at??? Based on the...
I know I'm beating a dead horse here, and I have gone about his over and over...but....I still don't understand the purpose of this car. Again, forget the Supra name that is being slapped onto this franken'car....what was the purpose of developing another sports car in their lineup, that isn't...
Again....in the states. Everywhere else in the world, it competed with GTR. Again, the MKIV Supra exists as a direct response to Nissans GTR program. Technically, we should all thank Nissan, lol.
Not me....I’ve always been edging towards a GTR. I was always holding off hoping Toyota would shock the world by announcing a home-grown powerplant in the MKV. However, with recent news....it’s solidified my fears....a way overpriced GT86. I mean, what’s the difference in performance of a...
Exactly! Forget it competing with the $100k GTR, how about a $50k Corvette? Or $50k Shelby GT? Or how about a $60k Hellcat? All of which will walk all over the new Supra and still have room to hop-up.
What I just want to know, from a real Toyota executive or representative is, what was the...
It didn’t matter bc the GTR made up for it with 500hp+ out of the box. The MKV Supra is underpowered, overweight, overpriced, and no manual. This is a recipe for disaster....it’s dead before it’s even alive. The GTR’s pricetag, no manual, and AWD was ignored by buyers the moment the car was...
It's nice to see new people on the forums come on here and try and act like they know what the hell they are talking about. Here you are buddy, a bing search for you (plug in the numbers):

Here is a window sticker off...
In the states yes, not outside the US. The GTR was never here before the R35 to be considered a competitor to the Supra....so the Z stepped in. The whole reason a JZ engines even exist is because of competition with Nissan's RB series of motors.
The fact that a good majority of people are paying $60-$70k now for used MKIV's is a very good sign that they will pay close to $100k for a true modern day brand new Supra (aka GTR competitor)...not a Z4 badged. People said the same thing about the R35 GTR when it was first being released...
Guff and AT077R haven't really been "unreliable sources"....at least up to this point IMHO. So, if stats like this came from either one, I would say it's 90% true. My beef with all this is the overall appeal and value of this car. Had Toyota marketed the car more like a GTR competitor, I...
