  1. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

Heads are pretty much all Toyota, so that makes the car a Toyota!?!?! Ah got it......what was I thinking. Forget the rest of engine and it’s unique flat four layout....that’s distinctly Toyota, yep. Got it.
  2. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

I don’t think anyone here cares about the 86, let alone the BRZ. Personally, I look at those two as a Subaru, because the flat four engine, transmission, and ecu are Subaru. Sound familiar?
  3. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

The calipers are Brembo for BMW....not Brembo for Toyota: Correction: Prove me wrong when the MKV Supra comes out with Brembo's that have Toyota CASTED on them.
  4. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

Hey man, I'm just responding to the folks who keep reiterating that "Toyota is making the MKV Supra a different car, unlike the 86/BRZ." Sorry, but throwing a hardtop on doesn't classify it as a different car....it's just a different trim of the same model.
  5. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

What leads you to believe they did not? I mean, let's be logical here and look at the facts so far right (again, based on visual evidence of the Goodwood car): - BMW Engine, down to the throttle body and wiring. - BMW brake calipers. - BMW differential. - BMW interior. - BMW front & rear...
  6. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

Listen, I'm not here to argue with anyone...nor am I here to force my opinion on anyone. However, do you truly believe that the engine cover used on the MKV Supra that we all recently saw is just a mock-up or a prototype dressing? I don't think so...I believe it is very much the production...
  7. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

If this is in fact true, whoever decided on the cheap-O-engine cover should be tied up and beaten' with a potato sack full of soap bars...lol. Dress the "better engine" up a little would ya?? Again, another reason the 2JZ-GTE was so great, it had the cool looking coil-pack and valve covers.
  8. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

Yep! I wish and pray for the V6 TT out of the LS500 with beefed up internals. It would be a GREAT motor for the MKV Supra! The GTR switched to the V6 without anyone complaining....Toyota should do the same. I think everyone is stuck on the inline 6 aspect of things, but there are crap inline...
  9. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

Everyone is so hopeful of this car, when everyone is forgetting that the whole point of the collaboration was to SAVE MONEY and COST CUTTING! There isn’t going to be a GRMN with a super-duper engine. The GRMN will be the equivalent of a TRD packaged whatever here in the states. You know...
  10. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

Yes, you are the only one...lol. With an iron block, and the power/strength/reliability potential of an iron block, weight and handling issues will be pretty much non-existent. Also, if you think 500HP is "enough", then you have no idea the power little civics are making nowadays on the...
  11. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

A cast iron block is actually cheaper to manufacture. The aluminum motors are the $$$ nowadays. Especially for boosting applications with high tensile strength liners and machining. Going the aluminum route is not cheap at all...
  12. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

First off all Guff, I appreciate your honesty...it truly sucks that us loyal enthusiasts have to wait so long to get any info on this cars drive-train. Second, as much as I hate to bring up older topics, I mentioned this a while back about why a better version or top trim version wouldn't be...
  13. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

I've said it from the beginning (if you all want to look back at my older posts), that I could care less what the body looks like or what chassis they use. I have been a HUGE proponent of Toyota using Toyota drive-trains. Period. The A60/A70/A80 were all special because they were Toyota...
  14. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

Not to prolong this topic, but your example is not exactly the same... The Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade don't cost the same or similarly between models. My point is, the Supra and Z4 will most likely be in the same price bracket, so why wouldn't I want to go with an upscale brand if they are the same...
  15. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

It’s the same f**k’n car! If anything, the Lexus version shits twice on its little sibling. Btw, any “flare” the LX has can be taken off and put on a LandCruiser....same goes with the aftermarket. So all the “LC has better approach angle” BS can stop. It’s the same drivetrain, chassis...
  16. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

The 86/BRZ are identical twins...the Z4 and Supra are fraternal twins....same mother (BMW), but the two look different. The big misconception here I think is that everyone believes the Supra will have Toyota designed and engineered parts made by BMW. That cannot be the case...BMW is not the...
  17. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

I agree it’s not always the badge, but in the example above, the LandCruiser and LX570 are identical cars with the same aftermarket support....they are IDENTICAL cars, so your point is sort of moot. You would still buy the $100k LandCruiser over the $100k IDENTICAL (same exact capabilities and...
  18. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

That's what I don't get....why would you want a less prestigious branded car that is the same as a prestigious brand car, that costs the same if not more than the prestigious brand car???? It's like someone saying, "I'll take the Toyota LandCruiser for $100K over the $100k Lexus LX570, because...
  19. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

Prove it. Right....all speculations at this point. So, please don't get offended when I say, actions speak louder than words. To me DIFFERENT should mean that a Toyota Supra should get a Toyota rear end, and BMW Z4 should get a BMW rear end. I guess, my definition of DIFFERENT may not align...
  20. Have a look at the Prototype Supra's engine

Well, let me put it this way then....what makes the J29 so different from the G29? Don't even think about saying "one is a hardtop and one is a convertible."
