IMS is not apparent on the turbo cars from what I'm told....however, the 996's did suffer from coolant leaks (TSB took care of most cases). It was the later 996.2's and 997's that had the sought after motors. I never considered a 911 until I went to lunch with my co-worker, and he got on it...
You and me both. A co-worker has a 997TT, and has given me a plethora of info on the platform. Late model 996TT's and I believe all 997TT's had the venerable "Mezger" engine...capable of over 1000HP on stock bottom-end. However, for me any 911TT will surely be a used car purchase.
I'm surprised Lexus is able to incorporate double-wishbone suspension on the RC-F and BMW is not on the M cars. It cannot be cost, because the RCF costs less than the M3/M4 and cannot be the space in the engine bay because the RCF has a V8 motor that takes up more room than I6.
I wouldn't expect to see the high quality coil pack covers of the past on the new Supra. I think almost all manufacturers are using those ugly cheap looking black covers now. Lexus F cars may be the exception with the painted covers, but the fancy 2JZ-GTE style covers are surely no more.
Of course they thought about it and ran through thousands of scenarios. However, I truly believe that the biggest factor was the inline six engine. Toyota exclusively paired up with BMW because they are the only manufacturer right now that utilizes inline six engines....and apparently that’s...
Here we go....here we go...another band-wagoneer.
Oh it's ignorant is it, right....it's so ignorant for Toyota to work on an in-house cross-platform chassis, one that can be made to suit luxury sport driving (RC) and the other for more hardcore performance driving (Supra). Wait....isn't that...
Fair enough....ill remind you when the car is released and every nut, bolt, and button on it says BMW. Then, I can officially say I told you so. We already know a major component of the car (rear diff) is a “M” component, no secret there....so what would lead me to believe the remainder of the...
I see, so what your saying is using a Z4 chassis is much better? The MKIII & MKIV Supra’s didn’t exactly have a world renowned chassis either (the RC being much better actually), but we saw how that turned out. Sorry Guff, but I hope we are not masking one flaw for another to upsell the MKV...
Who said anything about Yamaha’s involvement on the MKV? You know something the rest of us don’t? :D
If budget is such a concern, then how was Toyota able to use same engines across multiple platforms back in the 90’s and still offer Toyota and Lexus variations? For example; SC and Supra, GX...
See this is the gray area in the spectrum....on one end Toyota wants to make a true sports car, turbocharged and all yet doesn't want to spend the cheese to do in-house. On the other end, Lexus has a spare-no-expense ideology yet wants to stick with what I feel like are under-powered cars for...
Only time will tell right? I may be a bit indecisive, but im not stupid. SP is a great shop, but no I am in no way associated with that performance shop in bensenville. My SN is actually a phrase a shitty salesman told me when he tried describing a sportscar he was trying to sell...
It’s not surprising....who said I was surprised??? Here we go again with people putting words in my mouth. If you read my post carefully and please stop assuming, I said “if we can’t get fast as f**k cars for ~$80k in this day and age, then forget it.” This doesn’t mean the LCF will be a...
Exactly....FML!!! If we can't get FAST AS F**K cars for ~$80k in today's day and age, then forget it. I will just reinvest my money into another piece of property and let it appreciate....then buy an exotic car. Lexus, your not Ferrari....stop making Ferrari-like cars that cost twice as much...
