Dude, you have no idea the time I spend comparing cars. I have been in the market for two years now for a high-end sports car...and I just can't seem to pull the trigger yet. After fixing up the house I purchased several years back, I now have some breathing room and $40k to put down on a car...
You know, the more I think about it....the more a LC-F (MKIV Supra successor) makes sense. I mean, it really has all the right things going for it. What I mean is, we all know Lexus doesn't skimp out on their cars....they have a "spare no expense" mentality on almost their entire lineup...
There definitely is some form of marketing involved in any halo sports car from any car maker to attract customers to a brand or make. This is not new and certainly isn't a strategy that will go away anytime soon. The Lexus LFA was never designed to be a mass produced car, nor was it designed...
True, but I was talking more about the discontinuation of the last car in the series. In theory, the MKV Supra will eventually be the last production Supra ever if what Tada is saying above is true. Also, considering what A70TTR and Guff have mentioned about the car being limited production, I...
Interesting what Tada says here:
http://blog.toyota.co.uk/new-toyota-supra-interview-with-chief-engineer-tetsuya-tada
"Dynamically, Tada set high goals for the new Supra. "It’s actually the same level of rigidity as the Lexus LFA supercar, and it has been achieved without using carbon fiber so...
I wonder this too because based on how discrete Toyota is with the MKV Supra to the public, that they would leave a potential loop hole for "outsiders" to see engine and interior pics before launch. In other, leaks might happen before the launch date and they don't want to take that chance...
What's weird is, from the factory the regulations do show reduced emissions from an Auto or DSG, however, once a bigger turbo or larger capacity fuel system is installed...the emissions concerns will be null.
Lmao! It actually doesn't look too bad like that.
Yeah, a BMW manual transmission is one component I would be VERY interested in. I know BMW has a reputation for putting beefy transmissions in their cars....the MKV Supra should be no exception.
Sounded like he didn't want to give any details on a potential manual option....but, he's so darn cryptic when he talks that you really don't know if he's hinting in a positive way or negative way.
Imagine, a manual transmission from a M3/M4 in a MKV Supra....there would be a 6 month waiting list guaranteed. I'd be curious to see if they retain the eLSD on a manual car or only offer it on the auto's.
Not all of us take motors from written off Aristo's and drop them into our cars. If you see my build in the garage section, you can see what the motor looked like before and after. If I get a new car with a mediocre motor and plan to swap a 2JZ, you can be assured that thing will be stripped...
Guff, I am all for new technology. I joke when I say a 2JZ in a MKV...lol. My current 2JZ build has maybe 50% OEM components??? Everything else is aftermarket which is what I really focused on with my next car. I want there to be extensive aftermarket support, however, I want the...
Guff, that's true....I mean, how much better COG can you get than a GT86 with a boxer motor??? Based on the size of the firewall opening and tunnel....that motor may sit really far back in. I'm talking possibly one or two cylinders past the firewall. That would surely shift the engines...
Tada also elaborated, saying the four-cylinder Supra will be lighter, with "much better weight distribution" and a sharper-feeling turn-in. Tada also remarked that, for the Supra owners who plan to swap in a 2JZ engine, "please buy the four-cylinder. It will be cheaper."
Thanks for the link...
