  1. Let's Talk About CGI (Compacted Graphite Iron)

Doing some more research onto Toyota's 1VD-FTV diesel engine, I found that Toyota claimed that the CGI block was "75% stronger and 30% lighter" than the previous iron casting. Here's a direct quote from the press release for that gen of Land Cruiser: "CGI is light, withstands wear and...
  2. Let's Talk About CGI (Compacted Graphite Iron)

Yup, CGI is generally used in diesel applications for its higher strength to handle the higher cylinder pressures. Ford also uses CGI in some of their TT V6s, but in a far more clever way than one might imagine. The main section of the block is casted from CGI (Cylinders, core structure, main...
  3. Let's Talk About CGI (Compacted Graphite Iron)

Okay, so its learning time here at SupraMKV forums! I wanted to touch on CGI Engine Blocks, a materials technology that many people might not be too familiar with. Why, you may ask? Well, there have been leaks and rumors of the MKV Supra adopting an "Iron" engine block, but I've heard whispers...
  4. Latest 2020 Supra Interior Spy Pics!

I have driven many thousands of miles with that wheel in hand. On highways, with radar cruise control on, one finger on the wheel... :P
  5. Latest 2020 Supra Interior Spy Pics!

If it makes you guys feel any better, it looks like the wheel from the Avalon, aka the other steering wheel you would have gotten if this was an all-toyota project. :p:p:p
  6. Let's talk about Colors

I was told explicitly that the hero color was the FT1 red. The prototype being shown in focus groups is also red. Not sure what kind of red it is, but we'll see.
  7. The Toyota Supra Owner's Club Event featuring Tetsuya Tada & the A90 (photos/videos)

If this motor is the CGI block, Toyota codeveloped six that I keep hearing about, then it's gonna be a beast, no doubt about it
  8. Lets talk about a side air vent/scoop/intake

Well, well, well... I guess the vents are gonna be real after all. And the motor is behind the front axle? I guess Christmas came early this year!
  9. 2020 Supra prototype at Goodwood Festival of Speed (photos/videos)

Best I could do at making it a more uniform color while still preserving light detail. Shadows got a little messed up though.
  10. The Toyota Supra Owner's Club Event featuring Tetsuya Tada & the A90 (photos/videos)

I have no idea, but I feel like it's slanted because Tada San is claiming a lower COG than the 86. Seems like that would be even more difficult with a fully vertical motor. Honestly, I'm not sure how he did it without laying that straight six totally down on its side lol. Motor shouldn't be...
  11. New (and old) SupraMKV members say hello!

I love that through all those cars, the ITR is the one that was sure to stay. There's something truly special about that car. Turned me from a FWD naysayer into somebody that truly loves a good FF platform.
  12. New (Unconfirmed) Details and Specifications of US-Spec MKV Supra:

Fwiw, I did a few track days with a BPU (downpipe and exhaust) Targa, on square 255 RS3s, and it was great. Factory dampers were far too soft on compression, but the chassis was still great. The car has great balance on a square setup, you just have to watch for the second turbo.
  13. 2020 Supra prototype at Goodwood Festival of Speed (photos/videos)

DB4C is the model identifier in this VIN, but that's not what the internal chassis code will be. For example, an F80 doesn't actually "F80" in VIN.
  14. 2020 Supra prototype at Goodwood Festival of Speed (photos/videos)

Not sure if this has been posted
  15. 2020 Supra prototype at Goodwood Festival of Speed (photos/videos)

I actually have no clue about this. But, Toyotas original Flat-Twin engines in the '60s Sports800 carried the 2U designation, and the Subaru derived Flat-4 in the new 86 carries the 4U designation. However, the engines are predominantly known by the builder's (Subaru's) designation: FA20...
  16. 2020 Supra prototype at Goodwood Festival of Speed (photos/videos)

Exhaust note (for any car) is definitely very inconsistent through video imo. I'll reserve my judgment for when I hear it in person. ...and when I hear it with downpipes. :D
  17. The Toyota Supra Owner's Club Event featuring Tetsuya Tada & the A90 (photos/videos)

Certainly does look like a turn signal... Yeah I have no clue.
  18. The Toyota Supra Owner's Club Event featuring Tetsuya Tada & the A90 (photos/videos)

The car does flash the brake lights 4-5 times when you initially press the brakes hard, a way to further warm somebody behind you. Make that's what you saw?
