I think there is a market for a car like the SF-R. One reason why the 86 isn't doing so well in Europe is because of the price tag. I have heard rumors of anywhere from $16k-$20k for the SF-R. I have also seen a number of 86 owners expressing interest in it due to its smaller size and projected...
The current M140i is rated at 335hp, but owners have shown dyno numbers ranging anywhere from 350hp-370hp. Im not saying if they will or wont, but I dont think its impossible. Mercedes has the current A45 AMG at 381hp.
This one is saying something about a 400hp TT V6. The second pic with the article is low quality so the details are hard to make out.

Updated the poll with another engine choice. I forgot the drive train from the 740e xDrive, it has been mention as a potential candidate by some in the media.
Which engine would you like to see in the Toyota's version. I believe I put together a possible list based on current drive-trains from both automakers, and not make believe rumors. So which one would you pick or will be most interested in?
I think it will be just fine; your two examples are pretty tiny cars. It doesn't look very small from the spy shots. The S2k is roughly the same width, but comes in 4.7 inches shorter vs the 86. Not all two seaters feel super tight. IMO, the 350z and Corvette feels pretty spacist for a 2 seater...
I don't think the majority of people that are in the market for a car like this will have it as their only car or expect to haul around 3-4 people. It is a sports car after all. However, a 2+2 would have been more useful and practical. You could use the back seats for kids or just to store junk...
Sadly I think we will be looking at around the 350hp range. IMO, the most likely candidate for this car would be BMW's B58. It is officially rated at 335hp, but I believe in independent dynos have it closer to the 350ish mark.
There have been rumors of Toyota's version only being a 6 cyl. If they do release a 4 cyl Supra it could just be for markets like Europe, Japan and etc...
