Yes indeed, needs some tinkering but if you get the lock for your VIN or whatever, you can use your existing keyfob. This would be the most OEM solution..

Just get the key lock set for your doors. Install them on trunk. Open trunk with key in the fob. Problem solved.

Forget about filter. Check for refrigerant leaks for best case scenario. Look to see if somehow two lines (pipes) going to compressor are loose at compressor, should be 1 flange bolted to compressor. Also, there's one on the firewall going into the vehicle... Is that's absolutely no on the obd...

It does sound like, your compressor is engaging if it's rising the RPMs up and fans are working in the HVAC unit. Chances are heater is working as well. Did you fiddle with any of the HVAC service valves? Perhaps you have a leak in the system or loose connection. Any errors thru OBD reader...
