Akio was at the ring with the chief engineer in early August so could be :)
  2. Why I Think Everyone is Wrong About the MKV (Video)

Since I have the facts around this information, I will go ahead and comment just to say that the Toyota engineering team has constantly clashed with BMW engineers since the beginning of the project, and while not as common at this stage the teams would frequently break into speaking Japanese and...
  3. Toyota Supra to be launched in 2019 under Gazoo performance brand GR / GRMN related topics

cars aren't going to "fall under" the Gazoo brand. You'll have the Toyota Supra, Toyota 86 etc, but the difference is that there will be GR/GRMN versions much like there are Nismo Jukes and GTRs
  4. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

well, the initial run of S660s sold out and sales were awesome for the first year. like with anything though, its more about how it looks over time.
  5. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

My understanding from the Toyota USA marketing guys is that the S-FR was shelved due to the segment it was set to fall into. It was going to compete with the S660 etc in Japan, but after they saw the sales numbers for that and others it failed to materialize.

Only time will tell. I just heard they have also renewed ‘MR2.’

Yes, Toyota USA had the bright idea to call a specific trim level of the Celica the Celica Supra. Toyota Japan however, the one that counts, never had a Celica Supra (it was Celica XX). I hope they aren’t doing the lower model as Celica and the higher spec as the Supra :(
  9. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

3300lbs, modded B58, 7spd DCT, $50-60k I'll go with those being my ideal figures, but perhaps the truth is something more :) We shall see...

Sounds like logic is a strong suit of yours :)
  11. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

I personally feel a Supra successor would be something like a TT RC-F or the new LC-F (the latter is a bit too expensive, but either way) and added to that is that they’re purely Toyota cars. Plus, the Supra always rode on a modified Soarer/SC platform and as such the cars were always closely...
  12. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

I think what most folks have to understand is that this simply isn't a successor to the JZA80 or any other Supra. Certain individuals did not seem impressed with the fact that many in the US are obsessed with 1000hp straight line duty as the Supra was never designed from the factory to be those...
  13. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

I was there, and yes this meet and greet was not supposed to be talked about outside of those invited... there were also other meetings beyond this that were not to be discussed either (thankfully those have been kept quiet). That said, I'm aware of several different details around this car...
