I have more fun on track than I did in my faster cars. I've never tracked a MR car before and found it's really, really nice. I had to adapt, which was half the fun. With narrow front tires, I expected understeer everywhere it went. Not only was it almost non-existent, but I had to have quick...
Too funny! I ended up going the 20-year-old-Italian route, as well. I didn't intend to.. at all.. just kinda happened. Slower than my Supra around the race track? Yes. Worth it? Oh, my. All the yeses. I can't decide which I like more: The intake noise next to my left ear or the exhaust at...
Updated. Also fixed a couple of errors that came over from the old thread. Deleted "Elapsed Time" verbiage to make the list more concise and easier on the eyes.
It would be in one of these vendor's best interest to let someone revert their ECU back to stock for testing then offer to re-unlock for free, if needed.
It would attract ALL the CA peeps, but only if it works. Which is maybe why they don't. Lol
No unlocked ECUs for me until I know it can pass smog :D
That's a hard pass for me. I don't mind, though. The cars are already fast enough for what I use them for. But.. it were easier....
Oh, I hear ya. I mistook "drive like my old car" to mean "handle like my old car". :confused1: Now I understand. I get it. It's why my current track car was built in 2000. I feel 10x more than I did with the Supra (though it's a lot slower). My man issue with the 2.0 is what razorlab mentioned...
For those of us (possibly) coming back after a few years away... is it possible to flash back to factory settings for smog in Commiefornia? I browsed this thread and didn't see mention of it (at work, so completely distracted so may have missed it).
Good luck. I can't find a single car I want in the $100k range. The ones that USED to be there have all shot up 50% and I'm not paying $100k for an old NSX. LOL.
I bought my base model because I didn't want the extra electronics, but mostly because the seats. :D
...until I found out how horrible they were with a helmet on, but that's another story for another time.
Interesting to read this. I had the same experience on all my track days except for one. One look at the Lap Times thread and you can tell. All of my laps, except for those in Las Vegas, were down from what they should have been. I couldn't figure out WTF was going on, but the car would NOT pull...
I always liked "flappy paddles" :p. The never-ending battle. LOL.
Are you having trouble getting this car to drive like the old one? That sounds like a tall order. I went from an Evo to the Supra so had to make a lot of self-adjustments. I don't think any amount of changes would have made them...
Updated!
I vote we dub MT Supras as "Manly Transmission" Supras.
Great work guys. I keep saying it, but it's true: Ya'll have me kinda bummed that I never modded my car. They are so FAST with just a few parts.
I ran 18x10 with a 275 tire. Camber plates up front, but not a lot of adjustment due to the tire hitting the spring. Stock height. I had no issues but can't say for sure if a larger wheel/tire would fit with less camber. Do you necessarily need to fit a 10.7 wheel? It may be a tight fit.
