The b58 has proven itself to be insanely reliable. I am sorry you had a weird noise. Certainly an outlier BMWs have their quirks. But it is in those quirks you learn your car and it learns you. There becomes a bond w a BMW that is hard for other owners to understand

Couple things as a dedicated track rat (3 times a month) I am sorry OP you had the failure. Glad you were able to get back on the road/track. Hood vents and shields help on the track but only give you another lap or so before heat soak. They would absolutely help on a spirited mountain run...

behaves awesome certainly. It is very very good on the track right out of the box. But there is capability and there is driver feedback and feel. the circles intersect but many other cars they overlap more.

It does a little bit. Of course if you are coming from a Dodge anything will feel decades better. But the Supra steering is meh and the stock suspension is too soft and not super communicative. Even my 2002 M3 has more "driver feel" .02 from a track rat
