JB4+Meth would blow any "real tune" out of the water lol. You can run 25 psi with max stock timing. easily 500whp+ on stock turbo. Believe me, the logs I've reviewed surprised me too.
You would need meth or bigger turbo on a proper tune to keep up.
It's just crude in a way that JB4 looks at...
Yeah it's mostly just because the B58 can request crazy high boost targets if your JB4 isn't tuned quite right for you car. ie. You have a catless DP, haven't wastegate tuned for it, and run Map 3. Boom, you just put 24+ psi into your engine at 4k. Lol. I just trust absolute maps so much more.
Hey guys, I would suggest Map4 over Map 3. Map 3 and supras don't play particularly nice. I'm not really a fan of additive maps in general either. (I figured out how to get them to play nice ? )Map 3 is actually about equivalent to Map 5 in boost, sometimes more.
Just checked one since I'm not at my PC but I see that it pulled boost due to high trims, so E has to go down some with those boost levels. Alternatively, see if Terry can up the fueling in the BEF.
That's 11:1 B58 compression for ya. Unusually high for a boosted car. That's why these cars require ethanol/methanol to push anything over 20 psi.
My GTI (9.6:1) will happily push 25 psi on 93 due to low compression.
Even S58 (9.3:1) can do 25-27 psi on 93 since its lower compression than B58
Pretty normal for trims to spike up a bit before dropping with JB4. 40s is OK if you log occasionally. If you start seeing it get near 50, it's too much ethanol or boost.
Glad your car is running well. Really looking forward to next dyno run! Wanna see that 500 whp
Yeah not sure that it'd be easy at all to get 22 psi on an MT, especially on 91.
My car has taken a good bit of work to push 19-20 on 93/E20
JB4 is definitely safer than JB+ since it has built in safeties
Eh it depends. MTs are very finicky with JB4, though some get it working easily and quickly.
I used JB+ while I still had OEM downpipe and it worked fine! I'd just recommend that on default setting and a couple gal of ethanol, rather than mess with the JB4.
Only way you're making more power than you are with the JB4 is to go WMI. And yes, it is a pretty drastic power jump.
I've never gotten someone setup on Meth before so Jesse is probably your guy
Duty bias is just an offset to wastegate position. As your raise that value, the JB4 will close the wastegate more than the DME is requesting. Lower, the opposite.
Too low and you won't boost near your targets. Too high and you overboost and get throttle closure or timing corrections
Just added settings to my previous post above. Yep, certain power level now requires 4th gear pulls ?
Kick up your boost safety (failsafe) to 26 as well.
