It's a beautiful car for the class rules. B58 is a strong platform, weight distribution is very good, aftermarket support is fantastic, weight is perfect for slightly heavier classes, 6 cyl so no power adder restrictions... for now.
And honestly, the thrill of being one of the top 20 fastest...
Do you have any idea how close competition races are? Lamo, they're a few thousandths sometimes. There's a reason we spend thousands to save a couple of lbs., or run iceboxes that make the car undrivable on the street, or spend an entire winter working on cars to get them ready for TX2K, or...
It would be torque, yes. But more so, just.. strength. There's a lot more to it than just 'it's good for <some torque>'. Materials, spline, tensile strength, etc.

HP Isn't even an interesting metric for axles.. so I'm not sure why they would do that (they also don't). There also isn't a single supra that makes 1400hp, so I'm not sure how they'd even begin to suggest that. Norato has broken several sets of DSS axles with his 15'' welds and suspension...
