While I think hand delivery is overkill, that's actually a pretty good deal. If Australian shops charged only $1200USD, I could justify the premium - I understand that everyone has to make some money! Unfortunately, in Australia the markup for Femto is over 100% which is flat out unreasonable.
Sure but that's literally a single data point. All I'm saying is that other than personal anecdotes, no actual evidence has been provided. A cursory Google search provides similar results, with other people Including "journalists" openly whinging.. and I'll say it again, without a shred of...
Same shit everyone says. Where's the actual evidence?
I found some articles spouting the same shit but again, zero evidence presented. If anything most of it is whinging that our fuel is "dirty" from an environmental standpoint, not low octane. ?‍♂️
What follows is my (rather exhaustive) experience of getting the Femto unlock done directly through Femto, from the East Coast of Australia in February 2025.
I should probably suggest you grab a coffee at this point if you plan to read the whole post, or alternatively maybe skip to the section...
Haha.. Welcome to the correct English spelling. ?
I'll go for a run tonight and run a tyre check.. hopefully I won't get a new iDrive message to haunt my dreams. Also MHD got back to me and said its unrelated. ?‍♂️
Yeah. It's all old wive's tales.
As @DC5UPRA suggested, this error went away after a few cycles. Of course, in its place I got a "check tyre pressure" message which MHD suggests isn't related.. but I'm not convinced. I think @lucky phil's historical data theory is on the money and I'm hoping that as this data is re-acquired...
I know Ethanol has some great performance qualities but I don't think it is all positive, even on the intarwebs.
And I have heard a number of people say Aussie fuels are rubbish but I have never seen any evidence of it. In fact, years ago I did see some evidence to the contrary, with testing...
Yeah, I took her out a few times today and she definitely has more power despite only pushing her to maybe 70-80%. And yes, I'm running the stage 2 OTS map on 98RON which I believe is equivalent to your 93. I know there's more power running E85 but 98/93 is plentiful here and I'm not convinced...
Thanks!
I've reached out to MHD but might try reflashing to stock and then back. The MHD manual is woefully incomplete as it seems to have been last updated in 2022. ?
Went for a short drive and it's a nice little power bump.. but I got one of these to dampen the mood.
I presume this is just an artifact of the MHD OTS tune. Oil levels are fine according to the iDrive check. Does anyone know I can get rid of this? Clearing codes on Bimmercode doesn't seem...
I got my DME back from Femto today and after I plugged her back in and started the car, she coughed and spluttered before flat out refusing to start! After a brief moment of panic, I decided to unplug the battery and carefully re-seat the DME connectors. She then started up with a roar. I took...
After some back and forth they've agreed to fix everything but what a head-fuck. And the same morons that did the damage get to work on my car again. Ugh.
This industry is like the PPF/Detailing one. Complete sham. If you find a good installer at any price, consider yourself lucky.
Yes it certainly is relative! The last NA Type Rs were the FN2/FD2 and yes, you're right they had less torque than your GR86.. but, you're telling me that in 17 YEARS the best Toyota/Subaru could muster was to increase the torques by only 35/48? ?
While underpowered relative to today's GR86s...
Can't help with costs as I'm on a different continent but my daily driver (not the Supra) just got butchered by some clowns - The "installers" destroyed my dash (put a large crack in it) and installed a head unit with a fresh ding in it. They deny all damage of course so it's off to war we go...
