We all knew this day was coming. Not sure why anybody is acting shocked. The real question is are we looking at a GRMN (be it Japan only or otherwise) or just another bullshit "46th" edition send off.
Yeah.. I'm more talking about the overall package and the interior plays a big part. Beyond that, I agree that if we look at pure performance figures, there really isn't much in it.
No arguments from me about the exterior.. but I'm really quite shocked that people consider the Supra's manual transmission to be anything but pretty mediocre. And if proper BMW transmissions are worse.. yikes!
Yeah, I'm not disagreeing. As an overall package though, Toyota really did skimp...
Externally, sure.. no argument. The inside of a Supra however, is absolute dogshit compared to the new M2. And in this respect, calling the M2 in another league is, quite frankly, putting it mildly.
I've deleted my CDV and I too think it is better.. somewhat. The changes feel more reliable but ultimately, it doesn't conclusively change my opinion that the Supra's gearbox is quite mediocre.. especially compared to the one in my 16 year old Type R. ?‍♂️
Nice find but that solution is the very definition of over-engineering! For a few dollars more, you can just buy Bimmercode and solve many more minor annoyances. ?‍♂️
In an attempt to get my cheap ass carbon fibre diffuser to fit better, my installer accidentally scratched my rear bumper. They have touched it up and while its very minor, it is noticeable from a few meters away and like a paper-cut, it hurts simply because I know its there.
I should add that...
I think the M2 has a lot more updates underneath. The diff settings are far more granular, etc. And the fact that Toyota started with outdated parts at the outset, just makes it a very hard a sell. ?‍♂️
If we are being brutally honest, it's probably a push between the Supra and the F87 M2 (in overall terms) since it's largely the same parts bin vintage, which is a little embarrassing but it's all part of the Toyota BMW experience. ?‍♂️
In overall terms, its hard to argue against the G87 M2 being a better car: The interior leaves the Supra for dead; The engine is more powerful out of the box; The overall technology (entertainment and driving dynamics) is newer and updated. Just to state the obvious:
The M2 a newer design.

I think it requires a bin to be honest. I've had two installers take a look and it fits as well as it is ever likely to fit. At a distance it looks fine but it's just annoying.
And just as an aside, the second installer accidentally scraped some paint off my bumper trying to fix it so yeah,my...
