Thanks for your replies guys. Yeah I'm running the 2.0, I imagine after everything's all said and done my naive guess would be in the realm of ~310hp, over the 255hp stock rating on JB4 Map 2. Not sure what a custom map could net me (@Jesse DaBears ?) Think my engine mods will stop here.
Any...
I'll shortly be running with the following stage 1:
- Armaspeed cold air intake (installed)
- FTP chargepipe (installed)
- Active Autowerke catted downpipe (arriving today)
- JB4 running either map 1, 2, or a custom 6 (ordered, arriving next week)
As a result of pushing the engine harder, it...
I wonder what it's all about then. Are there inherent problems when pushing 4 cylinder engines vs 6 cylinders, aside from a power ceiling? I'm new to tuning so I might just be misunderstanding. I've got some bolt-ons on the way for a stage 1 setup and it'd be nice to know if I'm just going to...
Wonder how long the B48 will last when pushed hard. There are people saying the internals are the same as B58, others saying that they're not and pushing past 300whp is too risky on the 4-cyl.
Definitely following this thread. Godspeed brother
Well I was hoping to do both honestly. Would be interesting to post a Google Form here and see what people are running and for how long, any issues, etc.
JB4 is appealing to me because I can just reset to Map0 if I need to take it in for service.
That being said, if I have an aftermarket DP then maybe a piggyback wouldn't be the biggest concern hahah
I'd probably stay away from adding ethanol (don't want to push the B48 too hard, it's my daily driver) but wm sounds interesting for its cooling applications
I've got a couple parts ordered, Armaspeed carbon fiber air intake, FTP charge pipe. Planning on adding JB4 and AA catted downpipe.
My plan is to install the intake and charge pipe after break-in (1200 miles), then drive for a couple hundred miles to make sure everything's OK. I know the charge...
It's a local family-owned dealership. I was even recommended them by the other dealership I actually bought the car from.
I'll probably take it there for warranty-related things, otherwise I'll take it to my dad's shop. The BMW tech there's a good guy.
Still got 600 more miles to break-in the...
Actually, the guy I was talking with said he'd take care of me. Don't think they're going to charge.
Definitely bringing my car back there if/when it needs work.
Haven't heard anything from the shop yet. They started looking into it today, and I'm assuming if it was just a rock I'd have heard back by now hahah. I'll update y'all when they get back to me
