That makes more sense.. I think rocksandblues is speaking of a problem that is typical with all TDI engines and is unaware of the excessive amount of blow-by this specific car has under high boost. This is why I asked what his turbo setup was. If he's stock then clearly he's speaking about...
Shop full of 600-1000hp? You have to be referring to MK4's.. so unless you're running an aftermarket billet intake, there's no way someone's blasting walnut shells into my factory plastic one with built-in intercooler.
Other than plugging up the carb, I'm going to give it a try lol.
As long as the car remains happy, I'll do whatever it takes to keep oil out of the charge pipe.
Still testing without the valve.. seems to be working okay? Maybe slightly more oil is in the catch can then should be there but noticeably less in the charge pipe.
My next test is to reinstall the valve and eliminate all pcv/ccv hoses with breathers.
I misspoke.. we tried to reverse this valve however it wouldn't align properly.
The purpose of a CCV is to vent crankcase pressure and this valve is 100% not allowing that to happen.
It makes a difference though.. If it's a regulator then you'd be correct in that it's job is to maintain a certain pressure level. If it's a check valve then it's job is to ensure contaminates/flow only goes one way.
Is that how the valve is supposed to work? When turned the correct direction and blowing through the line I couldn't tell a difference in resistance with or without the valve in place.
The valve can easily be disassembled and reversed however there are no markings to determine it's direction.. I had to blow through the line to figure this out. I figure, with the can in place there's no real reason to have a valve so I just yanked it.
The check valve on my CCV line was going the wrong direction (from the factory) which wasn't allowing ANY oil to be pulled through the can forcing oil to exit places it's not supposed to.. so I removed it altogether. I will add before doing this mod the can was bone dry with roughly 1,000 miles...
Personally I wouldn't buy anything other than ZF branded fluids for the transmission.. I don't think the rear diff is anything special so redline would work fine.

Edit: I switched over to a heavier weighted oil...
Is the stud diameter different in the UK? The spare you listed shows as being 120 and our cars are 112. This is a great idea though and will be picking one up if I find the correct bolt pattern.
I just picked up a couple dozen for a project I'm working on. Upload your design and it takes a couple weeks for them to print and cut.. not cheap but turned out great.

Did I notice oil in the charge pipe prior to the pure800? Yes, however I didn't consider it to be an issue.. the amount of oil that I'm now finding in the charge pipe is on another level with the new turbo.
I modified the CCV line to flow more freely into the catch can.. I'll report back if it...
