Greetings. I just installed a magnficient carbon wheel in our new 2021 3.0 Premium. This wheel has a center stripe, which revealed the steering wheel as delivered wasn't perfectly centered. This guide will show you a simple DIY procedure to recenter the wheel.
Here's the "center" position...
The stock braces screw in with E16 bolts, if I recall. I have a set of e-torx sockets and I just choose the one that fit and didn't look too-closely at the size.
The billet braces can be found here.
Yes, it is charged by the electrical system, for sure. I've seen more than a few of these go bad (throwing a code) over the last few years, most were 3-5 years old.
I'm only guessing - based on experience with lithium batteries from the Radio Control world - that BMW keeps this battery...
They really do look cheap as it comes from the factory. I considered painting these, but just said WTH, I'll go with billet braces. Not that expensive.
Over in BMW world, that was called the TCU, the Telematics Control Unit. And it does have LTE cell capability, most certainly. It's how the Emergency Call button connects to BMW Assist, among other features.
Pro tip: these contain a rechargeable, Li/Ion battery. And when that battery goes...
So many options for modification with the new Supra. What are your top 5 mods?
Here's mine. Note: I generally don't do any powertrain mods until near end of warranty.
#1) Radar detector/dash cam mount. 100% necessary. Driving without a dector is like walking around naked. I've been a...
IMHO, the 2.0 wasn't really intended for the US market. Many countries have punative taxes based on engine size or fuel consumption. The 2.0 makes considerably more sense there, where the OTD cost will be substantially less than the 3.0.
Wow, I literally last night just had the same problem. My kitten carried off the little bag with the replacement plastic rivets, and we can't find it anywhere. We hit up Autozone, and found they carry a large selection of 1/4" (hole size) plastic rivets. The existing holes in the fender are just...
Looks like similar incentives compared to last few months. $4000 rebate or 0% finance on 2020, $1500 rebate or 1.9% finance on 2021. [FYI, the best deal is take the cash and arrange local financing. I got 2.49% at my local credit union and others report similar.]
Some of these recent comments are hilarious. In generations past, *any* car-person would have a garage full of tools and know how to weld, use a lathe or press, and would fabricate many parts from scratch. That was a necessary skill set and you'd be laughed out of town if you told someone you...
This. Same thing was true for the 3-Series for many years. The I6 versions (335/340) were actually a better value (and often cheaper) to own than the 4-bangers (328/330), once you account for options included and residual values on each.
I think the term "OTA Update" is confusing. It can mean specific things, depending on car and system. Our cars are running iDrive 6.0. Our version has a backend provided by BMW Connect servers, operating under the "Supra Connect" name.
One thing the system does is check subscription...
There's a name for your statement in the legal profession. It's called "admission of guilt". You admit you were inattentive during the operation of your vehicle? It is 100% your responsibility when you drive to operate in a safe manner, full stop. Distraction isn't an excuse, it's an...
Those of us that actually owned and drove 1970s cars are laughing so hard right now. Thanks for the chuckle. Your Supra isn't really a "car" by any defintion from the 70s. It's a complex computer hive-nest that happens to have 4 wheels.
And can we hold off on the lawsuit threats until we give...
