lol, hate to say this but it sounds like you pushed the tab tighter against the Downpipe. You may have to come from either side and try to get it to flatten it so it’s not pressing against the Downpipe. I left my Downpipe attached, undid the exhaust and twisted/pulled and it (as @razorlab said)...
