I get that, but given how quickly the rears have worn adding a gripier rear tyre might just as well improve the overall balance. Surely it's not a given that it will make the car worse. Of course you may be right and it may well push things too far and provoke unacceptable levels of understeer.

Thanks for the feedback, wet won't be a problem, it's tucked away then.;) But why do you think the understeer will be any worse than with a matching set? In reality I only push on climbs, coming from motorbikes I never like the feel of loading the front downhill anyway.

Reading this thread with interest, I'm just at the limit on the standard PSS rear after only 10,000kms, that's a bit more than 6000 miles. I know not great tyre life but that's almost exclusively mountain road driving, tight and twisties on off the throttle constantly and hundreds of tight...

For what it's worth I wouldn't bother with either a decat or the rear Akrapovic if all you want is the US spec noise. Save yourself €3500. I started with the Akrapovic rear section and it makes hardly any difference, adding a mid section OPF delete pipe makes all the difference and I reckon it...

So another 800km of mostly mountain driving and still no check light and this car is now what I expected when I bought it. Lots of burbling and lift off pops and bangs when you want it in sport, but quiet and civilised in normal. Only negative is virtually no difference at fast motorway speeds...

Ironically I've now done a couple of hundred km without the module and still no check light. I've got next weekend in the Pyrenees so that we'll see then.

I've found previously it got noisier when hotter so hopefully once I get it into the mountains it will be enough. Just need the wind deflectors so I can thrash it through tunnels with the windows down.

As a side note, I noticed while fitting the exhaust that the chassis brace you need to remove is like a piece of toy car, easy upgrade replacing that with something more rigid I think. Made a load of difference on my old 370Z.

So I removed the delete harness and cleared the check code, lucky I saw you have to push the start button 3 times without your foot on the brake to get diagnostic mode. Went for a 50km drive with a couple of stop starts and still no check light. The delete harness is a BMW one so maybe that...

My impression is that there is no difference between normal and sport, feels like the valve is closing once on the move. Buti It's definitely open at tick over in sport or normal. Just going out for a tinker .

Road trip was great including a run on a autobahn, it was quite busy but still saw 150mph. Just got around to fitting the OPF delete pipe and harness. It gave a check light after a couple of km's on first restart. Which is really annoying, especially as at first I thought the sound was better...

As an update on sound, I've already discovered that the OBF baffling seemed to become less efficient when hot even with the standard rear section and the same is the case but more with the Akrapovic. I even had a succession of proper pops and bags (3 to be exact:p) on hard lift off the other day.

My view is that the resell of the exhaust separately when I part with the car would be higher. Also with my intention to remove the OPF filter as well I don't want it to be too antisocial.

There's a little bit of extra noise, but not enough to change the driving experience. From videos I've seen I'd say it makes about the same noise level now in sport as the stock US version does in comfort. You can get the odd pop and bag out of it by trying really hard, but you still hear most...
