Seems like the M2 might even be abandoning its current N55 engine in favor of the M3/M4's S55 engine:

But whatever engine is in the spy videos we've seen definitely does not sound like the M3/M4.
Not a huge show so would be surprised to see it there, but you never know maybe they want to ramp up interest ahead of a new concept release... I hope! :)
There is absolutely nothing that the FT-1 could be previewing other than Supra revival or a totally new nameplate. Is it certainly not an S660 competitor. Also don't forget that Tada san and others at Toyota (including in one of their FT-1 videos) have actually said the Supra by name.
That puts it at even less than the niche Mustangs in the same price range like the GT500 and probably the upcoming GT350. They sell about 5K a year I think. I'm sure the Supra can steal some sales from the domestic C7, GT350 etc but it will never come close to their numbers.
If the price predictions I've read here are accurate, then the MKV should be just as expensive, relatively speaking, when it comes out in the $50-60k range. And if that's the case, will it sell in about the same numbers as the MKIV, or more/less? :what:
Interesting. I had thought that it'd be stupid not to use the platform for more than one model so now this makes more sense.
I wonder if its so modular that it could be made small enough to underpin the sub-86 car (instead of being used for a second gen FRS).
You guys see that the NSX has a 9 speed dual clutch?! At some point I'm thinking it's gotta be annoying to flip up and down through 8 gears no? You could leave it on autoshift but then might as well just get an auto.
If the Supra gets DCT hope that it's just a standard 6-7 gear.
I wonder if the Corvette will be moving upmarket in price with the mid-engined C8. If that's the case, it opens up the $50-60k area even more for the Supra in a few years.
I think it still needs to maintain some of those sexy curves. Flatten it out too much like the FT-HS's front end and it looks boring. Also, I prefer the proportions of the FT-1... hood should stay proportionally longer IMO.
Got myself Olympus OM-D E-M5 for Christmas :)
Not quite SLR level but more compact.
I'm just learning the functions even but it can take some stunning shots (not mine)
Yea what I meant was a redesigned concept, not just in another color. Something that gives us a better idea if they're sticking close to the current concept design or going another style direction.
Seems Tada had a lot to say in 2012-2013 before the concept was even shown in early 2014, but gone pretty quiet since then. I keep reminding myself that he said that the 86 needed 5 years to develop and the Supra will also need 5 years so we're gonna need some patience :banghead:
"The 86 needed...
Hoping there's a chance that Toyota shows a FT-1 concept II or just jumps right to a Supra concept at TAS next month. It'll be here in under 3 weeks so we'll see soon i guess.
