Turns out it was a loose / disconnected purple connector with the ground terminal that is on the passenger side near the door hinges (in my RHD case it was on a drivers side)

Thanx, that fits well with the symptoms. Is the fuse is the regular fuse box in the trunk? Blower regulator is the blower controller which is inside the blower motor unit itself? Should I try to open up the central console again to check all the connectors first?
