Drove it for three total hours around town and then an hour long freeway trip and another hour after that of stop and go, all 95deg+ weather. Seems fixedā¦ for now at least. Thanks yāall who pitched in on the thread. Iām carrying a spare fuse with me in the car now just in case it goes again haha
Got some extra info. The harness fuse was cracked which could explain why it would only drop signal when the temperature changed. So just bad quality on that fuse plus probably the Utah winter causing the actual crack. That possible was related to reflex power fuse blowing, and that one was hard...
Another update, trying to be a good citizen for any future people with trouble.
Picking up the car tomorrow, diagnosis was two fuses that werenāt visibly blown but werenāt getting reliable power through them ā main harness and power to reflex. Replaced and things look good. This feels like the...
Finally got the car back today. Swapped Reflex box relocating the new one into the cabin and everything had tested fine, gave it a decent amount of drive time. So got the trans done Pure Stg1, a Pure 800, and got PI added. Drove home (55min drive) no problem.
This evening, same crankshaft...
I donāt feel like that much heat makes it into that little cubby, which is why it is okay for an insulated meth tank to be in there. But Iāve never measured it or seen measurements of it.
It sounds like it is pretty common to hold it there, lots of people around here doing that and have held up for a long time. But after this convo and a few others Iāve decided Iām gonna move it into the cabin. Better safe than sorry in case the heat really is the issue.
Hopefully last update here -- Motiv had us replace the box off the shelf and is receiving the seemingly non-functional box for diagnostics. Car is running great now. I'm assuming I won't hear the results of those diagnostics unfortunately. Interestingly, the first question they asked was "what...
For sure -- my biggest pet peeve with trouble like this is when you find your specific issue on the forums somewhere and OP disappeared without explaining. I'm shouting at a wall but maybe it'll help someone someday
Reflex box swapped and unable to reproduce any issues now. Problem is that it was just swapped with someone else's and they'll need it back haha, so now we've gotta reach out to Motiv probably through Visconti and see what we can do. Worst case I guess I just buy another.
@zrk I think the bad...
Update: shop pulled the t-tap on the crankshaft sensor wire and made a VERY secure connection haha. But the tap looked fine to them too. Drove well this time for about an hour but threw codes again after shutting down and starting up again a few mins later. This time was able to capture the...
Thatās super helpful info, thanks @zrk . The only time it struggles to start/crank is if I restart right after the codes are thrown and limp mode is triggered. Once it cools down back to cold start or close to it, itās a super fast crank and start.
I think the failure reliably after 25-30min...
Thatās wild, I wouldnāt expect those factors to bother the reflex hardware. But sounds like Iād be an unlucky case since Iām not built and am on stock mounts. Should be able to post back w/serial in a couple of hours.
Yeah reflex+, I updated it before installation. Iām away from home atm but I can share the serial number when Iām back later today. Was there a known issue with a batch of reflex boxes or something?
Hey all --
I'm currently Ecutek tuned on an early batch 2020, 14k miles with about 1k on the tune with a very reputable tuner (don't wanna name so people don't incorrectly criticize since the problem seems completely unrelated to the tune and this tuner is AWESOME) on a flexfuel-only Reflex...
Pre-June 2020 ECU that I had to have bench unlocked because my dumb ass took it to a dealer two years ago for a minor issue. Had been on BM3 in the meantime.
The bench unlock flashed a stock cal onto the ECU. My Ecutek tuner is traveling and will be a bit delayed I think on getting me my tune...
Dialed the tune to reduce cold start RPM and disabled all burbles, NOW the Tomei single is perfect for the neighborhood and still rowdy as hell at 2k+ RPM. Best of both worlds, 10/10 would recommend.
Slapped on the Tomei single exit tonight. Not great light in this photo but gives an idea. Looks and sounds incredibleā¦ but I will be adjusting my tune to dial out the burbles because they are basically gunshots even with a high flow catted DP. Very happy with this purchase. Last step will be...
