I went with a custom bottom mount G35-1050 setup so that I can use the HKS intake. This setup also will fit the OEM intake if you want that stealth look.
Nothing mechanical was off. I drove to Denver on the way back across country and had Payn tune the car. Same fuel in and out; night and day difference in power.

Any of those type of metal frame and quasi-enclosed intakes are gonna heat up more than OEM or the Eventuri/HKS intakes.
