My 86 spends 90% of its life on track and I went with the Auto just because it felt better than the manual in every way. I think it actually suits the car better.
Coming back to the subject of this thread though; Im here because as an ex MK2/MK4 Supra owner I am excited about it but im almost...
Very good point. Its the end of the lap so oil/water will be at it hottest.
It happened to me once at that very place in my ST205. The 0.9bar factory radiator cap let go after 9mins of 100 degree plus oil temps through the standard oil to water cooler ensured the water didnt want to be in the...
The last corner before the gantry/straight has claimed many cars over the years but on the straight itself i’ve only ever seen accidents happen in races like the VLN and even then its usually been down to contact between two cars or something like a tyre failure. Tourists do sometimes loose it...
*Edited*
Just re-read the article and see that the crash occurred at Döttinger Höhe.
Hard to tell where on the straight they crashed but looks like they crashed it prior to the main track entrance/exit going by the look of the fences.
I've never seen anyone ever crash there. You're more...
Ive never heard Toyota themselves refer to it as that. Out of curiosity where did you hear/read this?
Publicly available official literature wise there has never been a 3S-GTM Code but being a 3S super fan I would love to be proved wrong.
An M in the engine code i’ve only ever seen referred to...
Fyi - JGTC Supra never had a 3S; it had a 503E race engine.
They are significantly different engines and none of the parts are interchangeable. But my understanding is the 3S is loosely based on the 503 design.
I’ve stripped down a Rev 2 3SGTE, 3x Rev 3 3SGTE’s, a Rev 3 3SGE and a Rev 5 3SGE...
4-cylinder “Celica” version of the car?
Notice the different wheels and what appears to be smaller brakes.
If I was Toyota... I’d have the Supra out first. Then once all the orders are in and the hype has died down, you then unveil the 4-cylinder Celica version with a totally different look...
LOL This is brilliant. Why have I not thought about this already?
Its just like how the 86/BRZ were referred to as the "Toyburu".
The Zupra.... classic :)
The M cars are pushing big numbers these days. If they want to push those numbers even higher it would make sense for BMW to get help designing/building their S58 with the company behind the legendary 2JZ.
I totally agree :)
I expect the regular 6-cyl Supra and the GRMN to share what is essential the exact same engine. Probably a little extra power though as the yaris grmn/86 grmn had more power than normal.
Historically the Supra always had a hand me down engine from the big Toyota saloons...
Turns out I'm not the only one going by other peoples responses lol
I don't care if I come up against a 20,000bhp Civic.. its still a Civic. Instant fail.
Also going after crazy power numbers is kinda stupid unless you are actually trying to build a non-street legal dragster.
A good road car...
I hear what you are saying but I hate BMW mostly because their build quality is poor. Every component is designed to last long enough only to cover the warranty period and then cost the owner mega bucks. And generally BMW owners exude this stuck up superiority that their car is better than...
Am I the only one that doesnt want an Iron Block?
Id rather have an alloy/aluminium block and less weight over the front axel.
I recently drove a friends MK4 after being out of Supra’s for around 10years. I forgot how nose heavy the 2jz makes the car.
I’d be quite happy with a derivative of...
I cant fault your logic, but like a lot of people I just hate BMW’s.
I love the Toyota brand and how they do things. Id actually honestly be willing to pay more for the same car with Toyota badges.
And besides, maybe I want a coupe and not a roadster. But there is also the imagine you want to...
I dont think they will loose money if they brought a 4cyl to the US. But yes lets come back to this thread in two years time and see who was right :) lol
I agree. I suspect it’ll be a European only model. It would need to be a big seller to warrent US/Asia sales.
Exaclty, thats why I said..
You can’t have the Celica and the 86... they are too similar. Kill off the 86 and replace it with a new Celica.
The 86 was about £5k (approx $6.5k) more expensive than originally planned because of the strength of the Yen.
But this built in Austria should help...
