Well, my trade-in value on the M2C is non-existent. For the time being, I am going to save money and wait for the standard A90-MT Premiums to open up for ordering. That timeline seems feasible for saving some extra money and lining-up a better value on my trade-in.

It's similar to most BMW shifters: it's held on by friction and a set of plastic clips. Philip was probably man-handling the shifter.... ?
