So I reached out to my dealer to ask what oil they use and how much it costs per quart/liter. They told me it's 0W-20 C5 and then hit me with a price of $29.65 per liter (pre-tax). Even the parts guy seemed embarrassed quoting it.

Curious, I decided to do a little comparison. I walked into the BMW dealership down the street and asked for 1L of oil for a Z4 with the B58 engine. Their price? $17.28 pre-tax.

Both bottles list the exact same specs on the back:
  • ACEA C5
  • API SP
  • BMW Longlife-17 FE+
Yes, I get that both are pricey for just 1L of oil but why the massive markup? Is this just GR tax, or is there something I’m missing? Anyone else run into this kind of pricing madness?

You're right. I moved this to another thread with some resemblance of continuity. Please delete.
