After changing some settings using Bimmercode, and trying to go into Navigation, I get the message "Connect USB device with correct activation code to start navigation."

It was working before, so I reverted the Bimmercode changes using a backup, but it's still not working. Any way to get it back?

I ran into this same issue (when the car was brand new, before any coding) because the selling dealer never properly completed the PDI. It took a local dealer two days to resolve it (had to obtain the code from Germany since they didn't sell the car).

So, no, you can't fix it yourself.

A similar thing happened to me once - not related to Bimmercode - with another BMW. It just kind of reverted to transport mode all by itself, causing engine/drivetrain warnings, requiring the dealer to redo the PDI. Annoying but not life-threatening.

BTW, in my case, I could still use navigation (via voice commands) and received directions, but without the map display.

So if I ever wanna use Bimmercode again, what can I do to prevent the navigation from resetting?

I don't think bimmercode caused this. Many of us use it with no ill effects.

Unless you used the advanced settings and boogered something that way. If you just keep to the standard settings listed, you will be fine.

Easy.

Don't go into the navigation settings.

I'm pretty sure Bimmercode is the reason. I used it to remove the startup warning from the headunit and the next day I noticed navigation didn't work. I called the Toyota dealership and they confirmed that they did this step when they received the car (They even tried activating it remotely today but got the message that it's already been done).

Update: I took the car to the Toyota dealership that sold me the car to re-activate the navigation. At first they had trouble activating it, so I left the car overnight so they can update their BMW software. After that they were able to activate the navigation for my car.
