So, I purchased a used 2021 3.0 premium a few months ago and I’ve noticed that the brakes seem to be hesitating to release when moving from a dead stop. They also make a loud honking type noise. Has anyone else experienced this?

I experience it in normal mode but not in sports mode. I thought it was normal. Our brakes do make noise when cold which is normal, if noise is loud and more like a thump then something might need grease. It happened to me when I installed my brakes and rotors. Found the noise and greased it, it never came back.

Same thing over here pretty normal for brakes to hold on for a second after you let go.

The ZF8 is capable of Neutral Idle Control which is effectively decoupling (oversimplification/not technically accurate) the transmission while in drive, at a stop, with the brakes applied.

I haven’t found details on how this is programmed for the Supra. I notice the behavior in Normal mode, but not in Sport, which intuitively makes sense. This may be what you’re experiencing rather than the brakes grabbing or delaying release.

Not directly related to the above, the honking noise when lightly applying / releasing brake pedal is completely normal. (#brembo).

OP, my '22 does this also, like the caliper sliders are "sticky" and don't release as smoothly as they could. I haven't brought it up to my dealer (though I should, I have 51k km's on it, and she won't be under warranty for much longer).

Standstill decoupling is enabled by default in sport and comfort on the Supra.

//to clarify: When the transmission is in "D". Not sure what the setting is for Sport Manual.
